She smiles and secures it under her arm.

DMaster: The four of you walk out of the castle, the weather is still cool, mostly cloudy, but the fog is gone now
PLUG: (waves over guards) I want you to barricade this temporary.
He points at the doors.
Chance: Chan: so Plugr noises and sound of things being dragged what do you think it could be.
DMaster: He wait’s for the guards, rubs his chin. Shakes his head
PLUG: Could be anything but I am thinking of something that would make this… a home so to speak. Animals, Birds, insects… something bigger…?
Talia is walking with Esmershard over to the investigation area, they are looking at the owl talking about it.
Chance: Chan: or it could be maybe undead remember the Isle, I know I am just making guesses here
DMaster: PLUG: (starts to walk with you) there would have to be a source of power… on the island there was Finster and their goons… It could be, but that means there has to be someone behind it… they don’t live without someone creating them, giving them life.
Chance: Chan: very true but remember we never did catch that Priestess
DMaster: He nods his head…
PLUG: Bitch was slippery.
Talia’s eyes widen as she walks towards you two.
TAL: Father, your language.
Gives him a scolding look.
Chance: Chan: very slippery I owe that bitch one for ferellus.
DMaster: Talia’s eyes light up again and brings one finger up
TAL: Chance! Language!
Plugr chuckles.
Chance: Chan: oh Talia this is how warrior’s talk better get used to it.
(smirking)
DMaster: She shakes her head.
TAL: Esmershard needs to speak with you.
Plugr nods his head and heads over to the old man.
Chance: Chan: sorry Talia guess I am just getting a little caught up in the moment I shall try to refrain with the language.
DMaster: She frowns at you.
TAL: I am teasing silly, if you don’t know that…
Chance: Chan: I am just glad your here with me to keep me thinking clear.
(smiling)
DMaster: She nods her head…
TAL: You need all the help you can get.
PLUG: (yells) Talia, over here!
She shrugs her shoulders and heads over to the investigation area.
Chance: walk over with her as well.
DMaster: Looking around the camp as you walk with Talia. You see workers around the large fire, eating, some are sitting around the sleeping area. Obyren is checking the makeshift fences they put up. There are 3 tables, which have some books, scrolls on them. Quills, writings on parchment and the owl statue. Also a few coins, they look gold and silver but they are printed differently.
Chance: I remain quiet and silently watch for the moment and see what is being said.
DMaster: Nothing, Plugr is walking Talia over to the sleeping area, Esmershard is gathering notes and placing them in a leather case.
Chance: Think for the moment I am gonna go sit over by where I set my gear up. is it facing toward the entrance?
DMaster: You are just in front of the 4 wagons. Esmershard, Plugr, Obyren and Talia get the wagons. Most of the wagons have an awning that gets set up, small tables that are attached and that is where your bedroll and misc gear sit’s. Under that (4 wagon sleep area)
Chance: I prop myself under my awning for the moment until I am needed.
DMaster: It is about 430ish. You count 17 workers, 13 of them guys, 4 girls. 3 scribes, 2 girls 1 guy, 8 guards, 6 guys, 2 girls.
Chance: I keep my sights on the entrance.
DMaster: Obyren walks your way.
OBY: Chance, secure the perimeter please.
Chance: Chan: On it sir.
pull my hood up and go sneak off quietly.
DMaster: PLUG: (walking by you two) This is Camerondale lands, pretty safe… but… it’s nice to be cautious.
You head north. You run through the scarce trees, and find nothing, it’s secure. You head east.
Chance: keep quietly moving along. staying focused as I move.
DMaster: OK, nothing. You can see the water and it looks clear
you head south.
Chance: Keep moving.
DMaster: it’s just brush along there, but as far as you can see, nothing.
then scope the mound of dirt.
Chance: Walk along the dirt.
DMaster: Ok. all secure.
Chance: quietly and silently sneak back, when I get back.
DMaster: You appear between the wagon and debris pile. Esmershard yelps and spills his drink as he jumps when he sees you.
Chance: (smirking)
DMaster: ESM: For the love of Animax’s foot wort.
Chance: Chan: sorry I scared you Esmer.
DMaster: He is wiping himself off, Talia is in the distance talking with a beautiful female scribe, giggling.
Chance: Chan: I didn’t know Animax had a foot wart (smirking).
DMaster: Esm looks annoyed and picks up his cup.
Chance: Chan: Sorry again I better let Obryen know it’s all secure.
DMaster: Ok you walk over to Obyren looking over a scroll.
OBY: All secure?
Chance: Chan: all secure Sir.
DMaster: You turn around.
TAL: Hey quick question for you…
Chance: Chan: ask away Talia.
DMaster: TAL: (smirking) Does your heart still belong to someone else?
Chance: Chan: drop it Talia (shake my head).
DMaster: TAL: So is that a… No?
Chance: Chan: that is a no as of now.
DMaster: She gets a big smile.
TAL: Good!
Chance: Let her lead on.
Chan: why do you ask?
DMaster: Grabs your hand and leads you over to the investigation area.
TAL: Chance… this is Genesis!
Genesis looks up and flushes.
GEN: Son of a… Talia!
Chance: Chan: Hello Genesis(pulling hood back) smiling.
DMaster: GEN: Uhhh hi… (sighs)
Gives Talia a sharp look… then looks back and smiles.
Chance: Chan: pleasure to meet you.
DMaster: TAL: We got lucky with Genesis… I mean I don’t get lucky with her, I mean…
GEN: (giggles a little) Yeah Sakine was scheduled to go on this journey.
Talia’s eyes bulge a little and nod.
TAL: Phew! (wipes her forehead)
Chance: Chan: oh thank animax she didn’t come.
(smirking)
DMaster: TAL: I don’t think we would have enough drinks for her…
GEN: Not even for a night (giggles)
Chance: Chan: not for an hour(smirking)
DMaster: On all the loot wagons are fold out platforms, you see the workers opening them up, putting small stools under them. they both nod in agreement.
Chance: Chan: well I think I am more than happy you are here Genesis.
DMaster: She smiles,
TAL: Oh dinner is ready, I hope it’s good.
She trails off towards the kitchen area.
Chance: Chan: so Genesis shall we go eat and talk some more
(smiling) looking to see what she says.
DMaster: She smiles, she is leaning over to put all the scrolls into a bag. She is wearing a short leather coat, darker leather pants, nice boots with a button up shirt underneath.
GEN: Sure, yeah let me get these scrolls into the bag and into the wagon.
Chance: Chan: I will wait for you.
DMaster: she is thin, and in shape. Plugr walks over with a bowl, bread and a drink in hand.
PLUG: Go get some grub you… two.
Looks odd at you, then looks back at Talia.
Chance: Chan: I am just waiting on Genesis.
DMaster: he shakes his head and moves on. Genesis walks out.
GEN: So sorry about Talia… that was embarrassing.
Chance: Chan: don’t be sorry at all, she is just trying to help a friend(smiling) since I am still new to Camerondale.
DMaster: GEN: where are you from?
Chance: Chan: from Summer Isles.
DMaster: You two walk to the dining area, wait in a line. She looks at you weird.
GEN: Why on earth would you be in Camerondale, the Isles… well they are paradise right?
Chance: Chan: Everyday in paradise… (shrug shoulders) Anyways, I got a taste of adventure.
DMaster: GEN: Oh…
Chance: Chan: it’s all kind of been a whirlwind with Talia, Plugr, the Black Ward…one minute I am on the Isle next I am on a boat to Camerondale getting sea sick…(chuckle a bit) I would rather know more about you Genesis
DMaster: You two grab the food and walk over to an open platform, and sit.
GEN: Well… for one, I am hoping Talia will stop staring at us with =that dopey ass grin.
You also grabbed a drink, it’s like a lemonade and you two begin to eat.
Chance: Chan: oh I am sure she won’t as we talk more
(smiling).
Chan: So what is it you do exactly?
DMaster: GEN: (munch munch) I… scribe, take dictation from Esmershard, Talia, whoever. Record the artifacts we get here. It can be boring, so most of us all jump at a chance to get out in the field. (takes a drink) Ive known Talia since school, She hasn’t changed a bit (chuckles a little).
Chance: Chan: well that can be a good thing. let’s hope she never changes(smirking).
DMaster: Genesis smiles…
GEN: it’s nice to know she is innocent and true.
Chance: Chan: well maybe when we get back to Camerondale and have some time you would consider going to dinner with me if I can get a free night… that’s if you would like to I mean
DMaster: GEN: (chokes a bit on the food) Uhh… well… yeah. Sure.
Chance: Chan: maybe then we can eat in peace and not have someone looking at us (smiling) with a… dopey grin.
DMaster: You two finish your meal with some small talk. Talia walks over after dropping her bowl into a big tub of water.
TAL: Sooo… how was… ummm dinner.
She walks up like a little kid.
GEN: Oh good I was just telling Chance about the time you and Quinton were at the horse stable and…
TAL: GEN!!! No one… needs to hear that.
Chance: bust out laughing.
DMaster: her eyes bulge giving Genesis a playful sharp glance.
Chance: Chan: oh I think I do, nice to know your not so innocent as you seem.
DMaster: Talia grabs Gen’s hand and they go toward the investigation area, Talia looks back and winks. Obyren watches the 2 girls run off as he walks up.
OBY: Now that you are done flirting, we have a meeting with Plugr and Esmershard.
Chance: Chan: umm Sorry Sir. I shall refocus.
DMaster: He nods, and looks over to Talia
OBY: Talia, over by the horses now!
You hear Talia.
TAL: Ok Ok… hold your horses.
She bursts out laughing, Gen giggles too.
Chance: shaking head.
Chan: By Animax.
DMaster: Obyren does not look amused as he walks with you to that area. You walk around through the entrance and there is a table with some chairs. A large lantern is in the middle of the table. It is 6-630, starting to get dark. It is pretty cool. it’s about 45 degrees.
Chance: go take a seat at the table.
DMaster: Plugr is over at the corral petting a horse. Talia runs around the corner and sit’s down next to you.
TAL: Soooo you going on a date when you get back…mmmmm?
She leans into you.
Chance: Chan: yes I asked Genesis to dinner.
DMaster: PLUG: OK group…
Obyren is sitting down, Esmershard is trying to light his pipe.
PLUG: We don’t know anything about this castle, why it is under a ton of dirt and more important what is in that room.
Chance: Chan: that we don’t Plugr so what is our course of action gonna be?
DMaster: PLUG: Well that is why I am calling this meeting.
OBY: Thinking of the most pressing situation, the adjacent room. Visibility is key, and I am guessing our guests do not have the room well lit with a torch.
ESM: That’s it, throw a torch in, close the door and wait…
PLUG: then Chance can find a way in and get a visual.
OBY: Or when we throw in the torch, stay in the shadows.
Chance: Chan: well thats why you have me I can see in the dark remember that.
DMaster: ESM: (cough cough) yes… of course.
Obyren looks your way.
OBY: Chance, what about you sneaking in, getting a visual, if any, and then slip back out. then when we know what we are dealing with… we can formulate a plan, throw the torch in and fight… whatever it may be.
Chance: Chan: That shouldn’t be a problem.
DMaster: TAL: Unless it’s like a cute family of squirrels!
Everyone stops and looks at Talia.
TAL: Well… it… could be (shrugging her shoulders)
Plugr smiles.
PLUG: OK I think we have our plan for tomorrow morning, chance slips in, gets a visual, slips out and we can figure out what to do from there.
Chance: Chan: so I go in and scout it out then and if I find any squirrels Talia I will be sure to bring them to you (smiling).
DMaster: She tilts her head… and smirks.
PLUG: I would like to be out of here in 3, 4 days max. Chance and Talia will scout further into the castle after we deal with that room.
Chance: Chan: yeah a nice warm bed would be nice to get back to.
DMaster: Suddenly Plugr leans on the table staring at the two of you.
PLUG: ANYTHING… (stares at Talia) seems off, you head back UNDERSTAND (stares at you)?
TAL: oooohhhkkaayy I understand.
OBY: I think one of us should go with them (speaking at Plugr).
PLUG: I would love too, but you know we are too loud. We need stealth and good eyes.
Chance: Chan: we will make sure if anything is off we will head back. I will see to it.
DMaster: Esmershard hands everyone a mug of light ale. Talia’s eyes light up.
TAL: Is this your brew… (glug glug)
ESM: AYE! Cheers!
Plugr looks over to Talia and furries his brow. He nods.
PLUG: First day is pretty much reconnaissance, then we build a game plan for more detailed investigation.
ESM: Yes. (puff puff) After you clear the room we will begin to unload that treasury, but once you and Talia head in we will stop until you are back.
OBY: Ahhh good thinking, so your noise doesn’t interfere.
Chance: Chan: exactly very good point.
DMaster: ESM: We will have plenty to do either way.
You talk about a few other things that didn’t mean much. then everyone relaxes a bit and chit chats.
TAL: I knew you and Gen would hit it off, I just hope your heart keeps in your belongings for the time being (giggles).
Chance: Chan: and just how did you know (cocking head).
DMaster: she gives you a goofy look.
TAL: Because… she is HOT. hell I might want to date her (giggles).
Chance: Chan: (smirking) oh yeah that would go over so well with Quinton.
bust out laughing.
DMaster: Obyren gets up.
OBY: Chance, one more round, secure the area.
PLUG: Chance, you have 2nd watch.
Chance: Chan: on it sir and as you say Plugr.

DMaster: Talia gets up and slugs the rest of her ale down.
TAL: I should brush and… Burp! ooohhh oopppss (giggles).
Everyone stops and looks, eyes wide.
TAL: (giggling) I’m just going to feed my horse (points at the horse corral).
She goes over to her white horse to feed and brush it.
PLUG: I wasn’t sure if I should call over a monk to exercise a demon or something.
Chance: Bust out laughing.
DMaster: You head to the North and the coast is clear, nothing. You head East and find the same,nothing. TO the South, you can see for miles and there is nothing. That goes with the mound of dirt.
Chance: just as quietly as I showed up head back. staying focused as I head back.
DMaster: the camp is somewhat lively. Workers talking and laughing, people sitting around the fire, roasting small pieces of meat. it’s about 8.
Chance: look for Obyren.
DMaster: PLUG: (walks your way) Our start my watch in an hour, ill get you around 2ish.
Obyren is in the wagon, with a lantern, reading a book.
Chance: Chan: all Clear sir nothing my eyes could see.
DMaster: He looks up from his book.
OBY: Excellent, good work today Chance.
He goes back to his book.
Chance: Chan: thank you sir.
DMaster: PLUG: Wow praise from OBEE, not bad (chuckles a little).
Chance: Chan: well it’s time for me to do my best Plugr. I need to prove myself to everyone and I for one am not letting anyone down. (smiling)
DMaster: PLUG: Well just don’t try too hard… trust your instincts,
Chance: Chan: I plan on it Plugr.
DMaster: He yawns and stretches.
Chance: as I walk over to where my gear is sitting away from all the merriment. kind of just look out into the dark for a bit letting my eyes focus.
DMaster: you can then see trees and some bushes, some plants.
Chance: scan around a bit with my eyes.
DMaster: It took you about 7-8 seconds to focus, so you figure you’ll have 7-8 seconds true vulnerability.
Chance: so I will have to time it well tomorrow. I will sit back and relax after scanning around with my eyes.
DMaster: Some workers head to their bed, it’s about 9. You see Plugr jump out of the wagon, strapped for a war, but no plate armor.
Chance: lean back and just close eyes for a bit. since I will need to be fresh when Plugr comes to wake me up.
DMaster: You fall asleep… You wake up with a blanket over you and it’s nippy.

Thuralay (Thursday) @1230am
DMaster: You can see your breath.
Chance: sit up and let eyes focus and shake a little at the cold.
DMaster: the camp is all asleep, besides a few snores you don’t hear anything. there is a rough sketch sitting on the blanket in front of you, it looks much like the one I sent.
Chance: stretch as I am looking at the sketch. Maybe I should go get Plugr since I am wide awake now. get up and go quietly find Plugr. pulls hood up so my ears don’t get to cold.
DMaster: He is at the entrance, leaning up against a wagon.
Chance: Chan: Plugr go get some sleep I can take over.
DMaster: He puts a finger up to his mouth.
PLUG: (looks over to you) (quietly) Ok. You are off tomorrow, me and Obyren will keep watch… When the second watch comes out, I want you on the top of the sleep wagon. It was the location marked D.
Chance: Chan: (quietly) as you say Plugr.
DMaster: He pats you on the back and heads to his bed. As far as you can tell it’s 1, another hour before the change. another guard is across the way.
Chance: stand quietly looking out east, scanning for anything unusual. thinking to myself something just doesn’t feel right.
DMaster: the other guard is sitting on one of the stools. then you hear some noise.
Chance: quietly look in the direction of the noise.
DMaster: it’s behind you, You see Genesis is wrapped in a blanket, looking sleepy.
Chance: Chan: Genesis shouldn’t you be sleeping(quietly).
DMaster: GEN: I never can sleep the first night out on assignment… (talking quietly)
Chance: Chan: well I sleep light usually.
still trying to keep eyes focused on the wilderness and not this beautiful woman.
Chan: well you are more than welcome to join me but not sure you wanna stay out here in the cold (quietly).
DMaster: GEN: Thanks.
SHe looks out to the dark.
GEN: No moons tonight, it’s dark.
For you, it’s like looking through infrared.
Chance: Chan: well I see more greys in the dark.
DMaster: GEN: Oh… Oh that’s right elf vision.
Genesis steps back a second and looks to your left. A guard walks to you.
GUA: Horses are acting up.
GEN: Oh Im sorry, i’ll get back to bed.
Chance: Chan: I better go check it out and you better go get warm(smiling).
DMaster: She nods and walks back.
Chance: Looking at the guard with me.
Chan: I’m going to investigate, keep an extra eye out white I’m gone.
I will quietly walk over to where the horses are in the corral and check everything out.
DMaster: the horses are acting up, neighing and running about.
Chance: scan around with my eyes and open my ears up.
DMaster: OK, you can hear some growls in the distance. the guard next to you heard it too, draws his sword.
Chance: quietly draw my sword as well.
Chan: Give me a minute to focus out there.
DMaster: GUA: (quietly) Wolf? Wild dog?
After scanning the area, you finally see 2 wolves. they look normal sized. Just sitting on the outskirts.
Chance: Chan:(whispering) we got two wolves just sitting on the outskirts.
DMaster: the guard looks around.
GUA: Oh… you can see that?
Chance: Chan: my elf eyes can(quietly) I am not familiar with wolf behavior, do they usually do this?
DMaster: GUA: (quiet) Well yeah, they are scoping out the situation..
Chance: Chan: should we try to calm the horses down(quietly)
I am slowly going to walk in the corral and try to gently pat one of the horse. use some soothing words.
DMaster: they are nervous, you can feel it.
Chance: as I am patting the horse I will keep looking around with my eyes.
Chan: shhh it’s okay.
DMaster: the wolves are still there, about 50 feet from you,
Chance: Chan: keep an eye on the horses I am gonna head in the direction of the wolves(looking to the other guard)
DMaster: He nods and aligns himself between you and wolves and the horses.
Chance: Slowly, quietly I draw my sword as I move in the direction of the wolves and reach down and grab my long dagger.
DMaster: their ears perk a bit. Both stand up.
Chance: keep moving quietly toward them.
DMaster: As far as you can tell, they caught a whiff of you, and then run away.
Chance: when I get to where they were look around just in case.
DMaster: You don’t see anything… you no longer hear them running, they seem to have gone.
Chance: quietly head back toward the camp and check to see if the horses have calmed down.
DMaster: the guard nods at you with a smile.
GUA: Good Work Sir.
they are quiet now.
Chance: Chan: good we don’t need the whole camp awake. Go back to your position as I will mine(quietly).
DMaster: The change in guard happens, and it was fairly quiet. You get on the roof, quietly where you were told to be. You can see pretty far.
Chance: I will quietly sit and keep an eye out until Dawn.
DMaster: Eventually the sun rises with no more issue. You can see some people getting up. Obyren is up stretching, doing pushups.
Chance: keeping my hood up and still looking out.
DMaster: OBY: (somewhat quiet) CHANCE… get down here.
Chance: quietly climb down.
DMaster: OBY: Report.
Chance: Chan: all quiet Obyren except for some wolves last night(quietly)
DMaster: He looks at you…
OBY: Hmmm wolves. I’ll talk to Esmershard about getting some repellent.
Chance: Chan: they had the horses spooked(quietly) Had to make sure they didn’t wake everyone up(quietly)
DMaster: He nods. You see the food getting pulled out as everyone is getting woke up
it’s about 630-7 as far as you can tell. it’s a bit chilly, around 40 and partly cloudy sky.
DMaster: TAL: (yawns) Is it morning already?
Chance: Chan: good morning sleepy head.
DMaster: Plugr stumbles out of the wagon, scratching his beard.
PLUG: Yup, happens every morning.
TAL: (looks at her dad) Morning… happens every morning… (mouth open raising an eyebrow).
Chance: Chan: I am gonna go make sure everything is secure Obyren before I grab some food.
DMaster: Obyren looks at you.
OBY: Good idea, thank you.
the south is clear, the east You do see 2 female guards, and a bunch of females walking down the path to the water.
Probably to get cleaned up, it’s cold.
Chance: brrrr thinking to self as I move along they have to be crazy to go right now.
DMaster: You don’t find anything North or the mound.
Chance: quietly head back to camp and get some food.
DMaster: ok you get there, and you grab some bread and sweet water.
Chance: find a spot to quietly sit and eat.
DMaster: Talia hops over to you toweling off her hair. Genesis is staring at Talia like she grew horns on her head.
GEN: She… is crazy, that water is freezing…
Chance: Chan: well at least your hair won’t scare me this morning(smirking).
DMaster: TAL: Hey! (pauses) Ok maybe you are right.
GEN: No chance, she dove in the water, didn’t even hesitate.
TAL: I couldn’t a wait for the buckets, plus I feel so much cleaner now.
they sit down next to you, eating some bread.
Chance: Chan: yeah just alittle too cold for my liking brrrr just the thought makes me even colder.
pulls my hood down so as not to be rude.
Chan: hope you both slept well.
DMaster: Gen shakes her head.
OBY: Finish up, it’s time. Chance gear up.
GEN: Oh… you are going into that room?
Chance: Chan: on it Obyren. Yeah they need my eyes.
DMaster: GEN: Well good luck.
You finish and go make sure you have all your gear, which you do. Plugr is at the entrance with Esmershard. He is strapped but not plate mail. Obyren walking with you is in full plate. You all exchange pleasantries. Talia comes jogging over followed by Esmershard.
PLUG: Lets go.
Chance: Chan: yes let’s.
DMaster: the five of you walk to the doors, which the guards have unblocked from last night. Opening the doors, you walk in. Talia brings up the rear in a hard leather, a long dagger and she is holding what appears to be a potion in her hand. Esmershard looks to have vials and potions all along his belt. You arrive at the door to the room with the noises.
PLUG: OK, slip in.
Chance: Chan: on it Plugr.
open the door quietly. Once it does I will stick just my head in so I give my eyes a chance to adjust. since I can’t see in the dark right away. let em focus.
DMaster: A beam of a soft light is emanating from you sitting with just your head sticking in the room.
PLUG: (in harsh hushed tones) Dammit Chance… get in there!
He pushes you. You stumble a bit but you regain your balance and he closes the door once you are in. At that instance you know you made a huge mistake. You see and hear movement in the corner of the room. By the time your eyes focus, you see a huge spider half on the wall slowly coming your way. This room is 40ft X 50ft and the height is 15ft. there is a distinct smell of rotting corpses or old food. In the NW corner there is the faintest of light in the corner and at the ceiling. It looks like the wall collapsed and dirt has piled in. The walls are lined with armors that are hanging on display. In between each of them are crossed swords, axes, spears and other weapons. there are broken racks where a few more weapons are strewn across the floor.
SPIDER: It fires it’s web at you and you get drilled to the wall, no damage but you are immobile. It is really sticky and thick.
Chance: see if I can reach my dagger.
DMaster: For your turn you were able to move your arm close enough to your dagger.
But the door comes flying open, Plugr and Obyren run in and see you pinned against the wall. That distracts the spider and it shoots its web at Plugr. It hits him, he goes flying out the door.
PLUG: Ack!
You hear Talia scream a little seeing the spider and watching her father get slimed. Obyren lunges for the spider.
the spider moves real quick and jumps onto the ceiling.
Chance: while the spider is distracted by them try cutting myself loose.
DMaster: Round is not done.
Talia comes in timidly, and keeps her eye on the ceiling, she throws a dagger. Slips out of her hand and it clatters across the floor. Plugr is in the hallway just trying to get free, and with a great push he breaks free. Obyren jumps to try and stab the spider, the ceiling is about 15 feet high, but Obyren has a long sword.
Chance: well I am watching as I am gonna try to cut my way out.
DMaster: Not your turn yet.
He stabs and hits the creature. Yellow puss and blood come streaming out, the spider shrieks and moves further back against the wall. Talia has another dagger and tries to throw it and it misses the creature and falls to the floor. the spider coils up and springs at Obyren. He skillfully rolls out of the way, it lands right in front of Talia who’s eyes grew ten times the normal size. You cut the webbing free, you can make an attack the next round.
Plugr rushes the spider to protect his daughter. He slashes at it, hit it but only grazes it. It jumps back a bit. Obyren taking the spider by surprise, flanking it. Lunges forward, stabbing it, then gutting it. it’s legs flail about, and it falls back to the corner a bit, Talia draws her weapon and she runs at it with her short sword. Strikes the creature square in the face. It recoils even more and you notice it positioned it’self in front of the rotting pile.
ESMERSHARD: I see little spiders, it’s protecting it’s young!
the spider backed into the corner, protecting it’s young goes after the closest target and that is Talia. Before Talia can move from her attack, the spider bites her square in the shoulder and hit her with it’s poison sting.
PLUG: Talia!!
Talia drops her sword, and looks like she has gone limp in the clutches of the spider.
Chance: draw sword and lunge at it.
DMaster: You stab the creature in one of it’s many eyes, deep, you hit something hard at the end. It shrieks, and lets go of Talia, it starts to ball up shaking. Talia falls to the floor unconscious. Plugr rushes the Spider again and slashes the thing open. Obyren does the same, even though it’s clear the creature is dead. Esmershard runs in right after your hit and grabs Talia, drags her back 10 feet, he tears at her armor and pours a little bit of a potion on the wound. She convulses a few times and then goes limp. Plugr and Obyren are killing a few baby spiders running around.
Chance: stab the baby spiders with them.
DMaster: ESM: I think she will be alright, we need to get her back into the camp. Plugr grabs talaia and they run out the door, followed closely Esmershard.
Chance: Chan: Obyren I can scout ahead now that I can see if you say so unless you want us to go back to the camp.
DMaster: Obyren looks at you with eyes on fire, grabs you by the armor and slams you against the wall.
OBY: You will go back to camp, stand by your bedroll and not move a muscle, GOT IT!
Chance: Chan: as you say sir.
DMaster: He lets you go, he walks away shaking his head.
Chance: Turn around with my head down, start walking out and head to my bedroll.
DMaster: Ok you get to your bedroll, talia is being treated in the investigation area by a monk, she is awake and moving. From what you can see. Plugr is next to her stroking her hair talking with her.
Chance: Just stand there quietly.
DMaster: The camp is pretty much looking at you. They were waiting for the room to be cleared, so they have wheelbarrows, crates and the like. Plugr eventually walks over to you, red faced and looks a little angry.
PLUG: What part of “slip in” did you not understand? You compromised our position and initiative. You nearly got Talia killed
Chance: Chan: my vision takes time to focus Plugr it just doesn’t happen…
DMaster: Before you can finish, he grabs you and lifts you up by The Armor.
PLUG: WHAT… PART… OF SLIP IN… did you NOT understand. Open the fucking door, go in, we close it. Not keep the door open as light and sound streams in…
Chance: Chan: (shake my head)I’m sorry, I didn’t…
DMaster: Obyren comes out, wiping his blade off.
OBY: Sir, let him down.
He walks over to him with his hands in a calm down motion.
OBY: The camp is watching. (looking over his shoulder)
Chance: Chan: I let you down…
DMaster: He drops you.
PLUG: Damn straight you did.
Obyren puts his arm around Plugr and they walk a few feet off.
OBY: Plugr, room is clear. Smells like a rotten slaughterhouse, but it’s clear. Looks to be an Armory of sorts.
PLUG: (waves over The guards) Two of you , set up just past the door… to the room that smells.
Chance: looking down as this is going on.
DMaster: ESM: I will start getting the workers to barrow the treasure out. You see a loot wagon getting pulled in through the entrance and closer to the castle entrance. Plugr and Obyren walk a way abit and hear them say “he isn’t ready” and “what was he thinking” etc.
Chance: shaking head as they are talking but not letting them see me do it. looking at the entrance and back at Talia.
DMaster: You still have the sticky web on you. Esmershard walks over to the both Plugr and Obyren… pulls them away.
Chance: quietly pulling it off of me. cursing under my breath damn it Chance get it together.
DMaster: A much more relaxed Plugr walks over to you.
PLUG: Your going back in.
Chance: Chan: I won’t fail you again, I promise.
DMaster: PLUG: (looks at you angrily now) Quit saying that, you can’t promise anything…
Obyren pulls him away.
OBY: Again, sire, the camp.
Motions behind him where there is a line of people waiting to get into the castle.
OBY: Anyways we have a guard that will go with you to watch your back.
He waves over a guy who looks capable.
Chance: Chan: Yes Sir.
DMaster: he is in leather armor.
OBY: Sit tight while they unload this treasure.
Talia is sitting up now and recounting the tale to Genesis. Her arms flailing around as she unveils her tale.
Chance: Chan: as you say Sir.
Crouch at my bedroll and wait.
DMaster: After an hour or so, they seem to be done. Plugr and the guard comes over.
PLUG: Your in. Map the place, you have parchment and ink. (it’s in the BW kit)
Chance: Chan: I will see it done.
Slowly walk to entrance.
DMaster: you two head in. there are two guards walking back out.
OBY: Chance, I will be at the crossroads, yell if you get into trouble.
Chance: Chan: Yes Sir, as you say.
head to the door and open it.
DMaster: You walk 20 feet in, you are at that cross roads again. To the N is the open door to the treasury and to the S is a closed door.
Chance: go to the south and open the door.
DMaster: The guard unsheathes his sword.
Guard: Uhhh sir. Did you check for noises or traps or anything, is that not protocol?
Looks at you with a worried face.
Chance: step back a little, virtually slap my head.
DMaster: You hear foot steps behind you.
OBY: Chance, you’re done. Outside, now. Take off your gear.
He walks by you, slowly closes the door. The guard turns about and heads out the door.
Chance: walk back outside slowly.
DMaster: The camp has workers taking coins, putting them in barrels, and storing them in the loot wagon. Plugr is in the center with Esmershard and looks over at you with a raised eyebrow. Obyren walks over to him.
You can hear them talk.
OBY: Sorry Plugr hes spooked, kid lost it. I’m going in with the guard. We will have to make due that way.
Plugr’s face turns red,he is furious.
Chance: looking down at the gear as I am taking it off.
DMaster: You are all but done taking off the gear and armor. Obyren heads in with the guard. You look around, at least it’s a nice day. it’s partly cloudy and about 55 degrees.
Chance: Damn it Chance what is wrong with you, shaking as I look at the gear ‘this is your chance and your blowing it.
DMaster: Plugr is over with Esmershard looking through the loot. They are packing it on a wagon, but going through it thoroughly.
Chance: kind of look at Talia and back at my gear.
DMaster: Talia frowns at you and waves you over.
Chance: slowly walk over to her.
Chan: what is it Talia?
DMaster: She looks at you with raised eyebrows.
TAL: You OK?
Chance: Chan: no, I am not I failed you… I failed your dad… I failed Obyren. Because of me you got hurt.
DMaster: She nods her head as she sit’s up.
TAL: Yeah, fucked up right good you did… but guess what? I am going to LIVE!
Waves her hand.
TAL: Except now I have a good story for everyone.
Chance: Chan: that’s not the point, your father was looking at me to keep you safe.
DMaster: TAL: BAH! My father worries when I take a long bath.
She stops for a second and looks to the entrance.
TAL: Why are you not in scouting?
Chance: Chan: Obyren says I am done.
DMaster: TAL: Done? Huh? NO!
Looking very surprised.
Chance: Chan: says I got spooked.
DMaster: TAL: Well duh… who wouldn’t it was a nasty ass spider (shudders a little) Did you see my dagger throw to the Spider? It slipped out of my hand!
Chance: Chan: maybe the thought of loosing someone else I have grown fond of has me spooked.
DMaster: She smiles and grabs your hand.
Chance: Chan: I have grown to consider you family, like a sister, (shake my head) oh by Animax this sounds so silly.
DMaster: Suddenly a loud rushing noise comes from the entrance to the castle. Ripping out of the castle doors comes 2 giant bats, Obyren and the guard making chase close behind them. Talia’s eyes grow big and she instinctively ducks down.
Chance: duck down as well and wish I didn’t take my gear off.
DMaster: Gear doesn’t mean weapons, you still have your sword on your belt as well as the crossbow and bolts.
Chance: draw my sword.
DMaster: they are fluttering about just out of reach.
Chance: heck with the sword pull out the crossbow and the bolts, try to get a shot in.
DMaster: they are 20-30 feet in the air. You aim at one, and THUD! THe one you hit starts to flutter a bit. Then it took a dive at Obyren but he was much too quick. He rolls out of the way, the other one goes after you. You side step and it harmlessly flies by with it’s sharp claws. Obyren tries to stab the one when it gets close. Rips through the wing and it skitters to the ground knocking into the sleeping wagons, your gear goes flying. You see workers scatter, the guards are getting ready. Genesis dove under a wagon. Plugr jumps for the downed one with his sword drawn, downward plunge. It has this high pitch squeal and then goes limp as Plugrs sword plunges deep into it. Everyone is under the wagons or pinned up against them. wild eyed.
Chance: draw my sword.
Chan: Talia get under the wagon now.
DMaster: the other bat is circling overhead. Talia is in a loot wagon, she rolled off the platform into the wagon.
Chance: trying to draw the bat I hit in again, by making noise.
DMaster: Fail, you lose your turn, the bat stays way out of range. It plunges for Obyren and gets him right across the shoulders as he tries to avoid it. He tumbles to the ground in a cloud of dust. Guards are finally ready each one shoots a crossbow.
Guard 1: Miss.
Guard 2: Miss.
Guard 3: Miss.
Guard 4: Hit’s the bat in the wing. The bat flutters a bit, making a better target.
Guard 5: Hit’s the bat, and you could hear the THUD it made. It looks like the creature did a few somersaults and then it’s high speed dirt. The bat falls straight to the ground, making a crunching thud and splat.
DMaster: It sit’s lifeless.
ESM: Wooohooo… nothing like some giant bats to get your adrenaline flowing.
Chance: Turn to the wagon, look for Talia.
Chan: you okay Talia?
DMaster: She peeks her head up from the wagon. Nods her head
TAL: Yeah… i’m good… That was… awesome!
Guards go over and stab the thing, and then drag it off, same with the other ones.
Chance: Chan: come on out (smirking)
DMaster: the camp starts to get back to normal, everyone talking and laughing. Genesis comes over wiping dust off her outfit. Plugr is right behind her.
GEN: You ok Talia?
Talia is climbing out of the wagon.
TAL: Yeah I’m good… I had Chance to protect me (smiling)
Plugr stops, meets your gaze and smiles after he heard what Talia said.
PLUG: Well… Spiders, bats… What’s next, snakes?
Talia slaps her forehead,
TAL: You just jinxed us!
Gen shakes her head.
Chance: kind of standing next to Talia, shaking head.
DMaster: Obyren after talking with that guard, walks over to you, Plugr, Gen and Talia.
OBY: (shaking his head) Yeah… we were just too loud. They must of heard us coming a mile away
Obyren is rubbing his shoulders, you can see it is still bleeding a bit. The monk is walking over to him
Chance: still being quiet, sorta looking over to Talia
Chan: I am just glad you are okay.
DMaster: Plugr motions for you.
TAL: uh oh poppa wants to talk.
Chance: Chan: I guess this won’t be good wish me luck.
DMaster: You two walk over to a remote part, where the first bat died, it’s been taken away, your gear is all over though.
Chance: looking down kicking down the ground
DMaster: PLUG: (sighs) I am at an impasse here… we brought you along to protect Talia and to be our eyes and ears deep in the castle. Stealth, scouting and mapping
Chance: Chan: give me one more chance I know I can do it Plugr
DMaster: PLUG: Well… (shaking his head) the only reason you are not on a wagon back to Camerondale already is Esmershard, he seems to have faith in you… (he sighs) You protected Talia, restored my faith a bit… but we will see with Obyren. Esmershard suggested you go alone.Now I hate that idea but after the Bat incident, it’s obvious we need stealth not force.
Chance: Chan: that suits me fine.
DMaster: PLUG: I am still hesitant because your last two attempts were huge failures. I am questioning your decision making.
Chance: Chan: give me this Chance to prove I can do this
DMaster: He shakes his head…
PLUG: Gear up, your going in.
Chance: Chan: as you say.
DMaster: PLUG: Any sign of trouble get out, Map the areas, so we know what’s in there.
Chance: Chan: I shall, no engagement, get in map the area and come back.
DMaster: he nods.
PLUG: now go.
DMaster: Obygen walks over with his outright.
OBY: You letting him go in??
PLUG: (looks up at Obyren) Alone.
Obygens eyes bulge.
OBY: ALONE?!
PLUG: Yes. He works better that way.
He thorws his hands in the air and he walks over to his gear.
Chance: Grab and put on my gear that is everywhere and start strapping armor and stuff back on
DMaster: You see Obyren giving Plugr a disapproving look.
PLUG: Just let it be Obyren… he needs to prove himself and we need to know what’s in there, we have 100 platinum of people, gear and equipment and it’s going to waste right now. You finish gearing up.
Chance: pull hood up and quietly walk in
DMaster: You see Obyren sit at the crossroads and wait, like he said he was going to do before. you are at the crossroads again
OBY: Chance, yell if you are in trouble ok? I’ll be right here.
Chance: CHA: Will do, thank you Obyren.
quietly check the door to the south for traps first
DMaster: no traps.
Chance: then listen for noises first before I open it.
DMaster: it’s dead silent.
Chance: carefully open the door, quietly go in, draw my sword and shut the door.
DMaster: Once your sight kicks in, the room is 40ft X 60ft and the height is 15ft, windows filled with dirt on the east side. This has some tables and most of them are broken. A few plates and cups scattered across the floor. Hanging from the ceiling is a round candelabra. there is an entryway on the far SW corner
Chance: any light sources or is it dark?
DMaster: Only light was from the doorway you came through, but none now that you closed it.
Chance: quietly walk toward the entryway.
DMaster: You get there, it’s dusty and kind of smells of mold.
Chance: slowly and quietly walk through the entryway, staying focused as I move along quietly.
DMaster: This room is 30ft X 60ft and the height is 15ft. Hanging from the ceiling is a round candelabra. There is a large fireplace with multiple grates and a large pot. Dirt piles out of the fireplace. A large table sit’s in the middle and it has old rotted food among other utensils. There are a few cabinets that have nothing but dust, pans and rotted old food.
Chance: checking the room, looking for the next entryway or door.
DMaster: it looks like a deserted kitchen and there is no other doorway, it’s a dead end.
Chance: Check for secret doors, traps, etc.
DMaster: It is just a deserted kitchen, but you check all around and find nothing but moldy food.
Chance: well move out of here and go back the way I came.
DMaster: Ok you go through the two rooms out the door, You map it on the parchment using the BW kit.
Chance: keep slowly moving back the way I came.
DMaster: you are back out in the hallway, you are now sitting at the crossroads again, 5 feet away you see Obyren. He jumps a bit when he sees you. North is the treasury. you walk by the spider room, the smell is still wafting from the room. You can tell this is where Obyren and the guard were, the footsteps stopped here.
Chance: spider area mapped as I keep quietly moving along
DMaster: you hit another crossroads of sorts. To the west it looks like the hallway opens up and even slants downwards to what looks like double doors. It is a bit far away. The entrance to that weird hallway has big torch scones.
Chance: put this on the map which way the crossroads go.
DMaster: To the north it looks like it is caved in. the south looks to go on, and you think there is a door on the western wall of that hallway.
Chance: well I draw caved in on my map and note the south way as well and then head south toward the door on the western wall slowly… and quietly
DMaster: you then also see a door on the east wall too.
Chance: Check both doors.
DMaster: ok no traps that you detect.
Chance: and then listen at each door for noises. checking the door on the western wall first.
DMaster: dead silence for both of them.
Chance: quietly open the door on the western wall first and sneak in.
DMaster: the room is 10ft x 10ft and 15ft in height. It contains a bucket, some brooms and what appears to be some clothes as well as raggedy clothes.
Chance: quietly and carefully check the room over.
DMaster: nothing in there but that crap.
Chance: note this on the map and quietly go back out and close door and go over to the other door and open it slowly.
DMaster: This room is 40ft X 70ft and the height is 15ft. Hanging from the ceiling is a round candelabra. Barrels line the southern wall, looks to have rotted wheat and other food goods. Crates line the northern wall.
Chance: note this room and check it over quietly, checking the crates.
DMaster: you actually find some filled with some armors, like leather, one has swords in it…
Chance: making a big note on the map about this, and quietly go back out the door and keep moving down the hallway silently.
DMaster: You find a crudely made entryway, a hole in the wall, it’s to the west it leads to a 10ft x 10ft room.
Chance: note it on the map and check for traps, to be safe okay quietly go into the room, but carefully and check it out.
DMaster: The 10ft x 10ft crudely made room has two skeletons; one is scattered at the entrance to the room dressed in common clothes (as best it can be) and the other is laying on the floor pinned against the W wall dressed in a discolored velvet robe.
Chance: put this room on the map and go over to the skeleton the floor pinned against the west wall and carefully look it over before I check the west wall.
DMaster: You do not detect traps or doors, the Skeleton falls over, a bottle falls from it’s hand and rolls across the floor. you also hear a slight “ting”
Chance: back up quietly.
DMaster: You see a key sitting under the belt of the skeleton, that must of made the sound.
Chance: quietly grab the key and put it somewhere safe and check the bottle see if it has anything in it.
DMaster: It is corked, it has a cloudy liquid inside.
Chance: take it and put it somewhere safe as well and go back the way I came then head south.
DMaster: the corridor starts to curve to the east.
Chance: stop and draw this on the map and then quietly move along.
DMaster: the 15ft wide 45ft high hallway rounds east and eventually north. Some rubble lay on the ground, cobwebs. Above you see glass, mostly intact about 25ft up. A very slight beam of light is apparent. Staircase leads up about 20 feet to a platform where you can see into the glass.
Chance: quietly go the staircase and draw it as best as I can on my map and go up the stairs quietly.
DMaster: you reach the platform, there is a door that is made primarily of glass, and it opens into what looks like an observatory room.
Chance: carefully look in and make a note observatory on the map. see if there are any other doors inside the observatory room.
DMaster: This room is 35ft X 40ft, half circular and has a glass ceiling that is 15ft in height on the edges and in the middle it is 25ft. At the very peak you can see that a little of the dirt has been cleared and light can shine through Most of the glass is intact and where it isn’t there are small piles of dirt. In the middle of the room is a large table with chairs, looks to be documents and a few books among other common items like candles and inkwells. The south, west and east section has mini stairs built into the walls and what appears to be trays jutting out. Some of the trays still have a scroll or paper on them. Dispersed around the edges of the walls are inkwells, quills and scraps of paper among the dust and cobwebs. On the flat north wall there are a few bookcases with some books, trinkets and a sextant. Leaning against the wall is a skeleton dressed in a washed out red robe, golden thread belt and has an empty potion bottle clutched in his hand.
Chance: note skeleton with robe on the map and go back down the stairs and quietly go back the way I came.
DMaster: ok you make your way back to the crossroads, you think it might be good to go report in.
Chance: follow my map back to Obyren.
DMaster: Obyren looks back.
OBY: Chance… phew.
He looks relieved.
Chance: Chan: this place is huge Obyren, I didn’t finish checking it all yet, wanted to check in first.
DMaster: OBY: Can I see the map?
You two walk out, the light is blinding, painfully.
Chance: show him the map.
Chan: oh my eyes.
DMaster: You stand there with your hands over your eyes, but it passes.
Plugr comes over.
PLUG: You ok chance?
Chance: Chan: Oh yeah, just the light is blinding after a jaunt in the dark, I did find this showing them the key and the bottle.
DMaster: Obyren is rubbing his chin looking over the map
Plugr looks.
PLUG: Wow, an observatory…?
OBY: What’s the skeleton thing in this little block here?
ESMashard walks over all excited.
Chance: Chan: I tried to be as detailed as possible with the map
looking at the map where Obyren is looking at.
Chance: Chan: that is where there was a crude weird hole in the wall and where I found the skeleton that had this key and bottle.
DMaster: Esmershard quickly grabs the bottle, His eyes bulge a little.
ESM: I think this is poison.
he walks slowly over to the investigation table with it. Plugr is waving the workers in. Two guards lead them.
Chance: Chan: oh and I found a room full of armor and weapons in crates
DMaster: PLUG: they are going to empty that Armory room
Chance: Chan: I still haven’t finished mapping the area out down there it’s huge, I am just wondering the key is for.
DMaster: PLUG: Make sure you drop that off at Esmershards table.
Chance: Chan: oh I plan on it he can keep it safe.
DMaster: Talia is at one of the tables looking over some odd looking coins, Gen is writing down things she is saying. Talia is drawing on parchment, recording what the coins look like another scribe is going through gems and rubies, etc.
Chance: Chan: thank you for letting me go back in, I hope I didn’t get to detailed with the map.
DMaster: PLUG: Well we still need to talk, but for now, let’s get organized
You two are next to Talia and Genesis.
TAL: Oh Chance… you wouldn’t believe it. there was about 3,000 gold, 1,000 platinum and a butt ton of silver.
GEN: (raises an eyebrow) a butt… ton.
TAL: Yes girl, BUTT. TON.
Plugr smirks
Chance: Chan: well this place is huge so no telling what else we will find.
DMaster: PLUG: This has been a fruitful venture so far… we are hoping to find some really good relics in the armory.
TAL: (looking closely at a coin) This is a culture that is long gone… like hundreds of years past (she says this purposefully) Someone once had this coin in their possession, and now they are gone…
GEN: (nodding playfully) Yeah, and I will soon be too if you don’t stop with that talk (giggles)
TAL: Trying to figure out who they were or what they were about.
Chance: Chan: oh and Plugr in the observatory there were books and stuff.
DMaster: TAL: BOOKS?!?! and STUFF?!?!
GEN: Uh oh…
Chance: Chan: but I figured I better check in or else I would still be down there.
DMaster: PLUG: Once they get the armory unloaded you will go back in… later this afternoon. Head west and see what is down… (he points at the decline hallway that opens up).
Chance: Chan: I can’t wait to see what I find next, just as long as it isn’t spiders or bats.
DMaster: PLUG: AYE! For now help them unload the armor.
