The Dark Society, A faction on Legon that dedicated themselves to the Demi-God Finster
From the time of Finster’s first ascension that failed, their was a secret society that was to keep his lore and artifacts; awaiting his next attempt to ascend. The name was derived from rumors and conjecture. Hidden away, in the shadows and darkness. They were first recorded as the Dark Council but was eventually called the Dark Society.
Please note that the Dark Cleric Finster has ascended. So the majority of the Dark Societies job is finished. They still exist of course, but their importance to the religion is now diminished.
LORE
The order holds many of the books and media relating to Finster. There is always a historian or two that works for them and keeps track of everything. They might be the most versed person on Legon about the Dark Cleric. Old tomes that might only have one sentence about him, to a huge collection of books that are very detailed. There is always an “open book” that the historian records the current events.
This lore also contains the prophecies for the Champion. So far we know of the following that has to be performed:
– Death of a High Priestess by the Champion
– Heal the unpure
– Resurrect the dead
– War without casualty
– Champion rises from the dead
This ignited the prophecy of the Champion and the Dark Cleric Finster. The Eve of Ascension, the “bringer of magic.” NOTE: We are almost at 80 episodes, so this has already taken place. The ascension can be read here: Time To Change The World.
ARTIFACTS
One of the most important roles is to acquire and protect any artifact that is related to Finster. They are always in search of artifacts and will pursue any that are known.
“The Quiet Gem” is one that is currently being investigated.
“Heart of Finster” is locked up in the Camerondale vault under the Castle.
PROTECTION
The number one job of this order is to protect the Champion when he has arrived on Legon. That is their number one mission, and the main reason they exist. Compiling and searching for artifacts will assist the Champion and the Dark Cleric.
