Dragons in Legon

Flying Dragon over LegonAhhh… Dragons. At this point is there anything more over saturated than Dragons? They are the Zombies of the Horror genre, they are the arcane art schools to the TV shows based around magic. But, the World of Legon does have these massive dangerous flaying creatures, and much like a lot of things dealing with this world, they have their own twist.

So what is the twist you may ask. Well, they are magic. Trailblazing thought, but I will add, they are magic so the types of Dragons are all based off elemental magic.

Fire Dragons. Earth Dragons. Air Dragons. Ice Dragons. With a bunch of sub classes that will fill out your trousers fairly quickly.

General Information

They are a xenophobic race, and are rarely seen despite their giant size. There are many many mountains and deep areas of Legon to hide, so that is where they dwell. The trials and tribulations of Legon is rarely a concern with them.

Most lair up with 2-3 other dragons and live out their long life span of 500+ years (the colors differentiate, and noted below). They are born from eggs that are surprisingly small, about the size of a basketball. They grow up to a young-ling age at 15 years; starting with the drinking of animal blood as an infant, to then eating straight up live stock at the peak of their adolescence. They have no real mother or father, just raised by the small group that has lived together.

At the time of death, the lair flies to a Volcano, and the elderly dragon flies into it for an instant, painless death. It is a long standing ritual for all the dragons.

The amount of dragons on Legon is low compared to most races of creatures. An estimate would be around 100-110 of them scattered about.

Immrylion’s antics with the Dragons was devastating to them not only at that time, but for the long term. People seen them, interacted with them all the time and they flourished in the first Era. But the Neutral semi-mad goddess craved power and she was able to extract the magic and sometimes the souls of these dragons for her use. Their egg production dropped 75%, their numbers that were in the 500’s dropped below 100. Many of them went into hiding the best they could. Eventually at the turning of the 1st Era to the 2nd, Animax cast out the goddess and they came out from hiding, but they never returned to being anywhere as social as they were before.

On Legon, no one dragon rules over them all, but there are a few elder dragons that seem to take up a leadership roles if it required. One or two of each kind will meet in what is called the shielded grove, unknown to anyone except Dragons.

Lets dive into each one, its unique traits and what they are like. Starting with the most powerful, to the least.

weakness – like treasure, hoarding,e tc.

Fire Dragons

(Red dragons, fire breath)

These creatures are massive. Ranging from 40-45 feet from nose to tail, upwards of 20 feet in height and when on their hind legs can reach up to 70-75 feet in height. Thick reddish scales line their body and a tough leathery skin is underneath making their natural armor excellent. Their eyes are of a red nature unless engaged in battle, they then glow an orange. Four legs, each end in a hand of sorts that has 5 razor sharp claws that would mimic long swords.

The most powerful and largest of the Dragons. In most lore, myth and TTRPG systems, these dragons rule the others, though on Legon, no one dragon truly rules over the rest.

They like to live in the southern most mountain peaks, they are not exactly fond of the cold.

Most of them have a superiority style personality, being as much of a snob as a Dragon can be. They do not take orders, they are always right and they will be worshiped and respected. They are about mid level in intelligence, but have excellent Wisdom.

Each attack would be 5d12 + bonuses for its claw. Its bite, is a triple threat; 4d12 piercing damage, 2d10 fire damage and then the target must make a dexterity save of 18 or more to not go prone and thrown 10-20 feet. The landing for the target results in another 1d10 of fall damage. Their breath is legendary, and the only thing with more heat is a volcano and the Fires of Ardor. Each Red Dragon can breath fire every 3rd round. So if it breathes fire round one, round four it has recouped enough to breathe fire again. It is a devastating attack 10d12 of damage. Considering they get three attacks per round, if they swipe once, chomp next and breath to finish it off the target could be looking at a maximum of 255 points of damage (minus any attack bonuses), continual flame damage for a few rounds and being prone and thrown for 20 feet. We are not even getting into special attacks or legendary abilities.

SUB-CLASS
Combustion Dragons

The differences between a pure Red Dragon and a combustion Dragon is a few things. They are orange-ish in color, they are usually a little crazy, and their fire breath is unstable and unpredictable, even to the Dragon itself. Most dragons know to avoid them, so anything else living on the planet should too. There are very few, most likely 2 maybe 3 of them in Legon right now.

Earth Dragons

(Black dragons, acid breath)

These creatures are the most intimidating. Ranging from 35-40 feet from front to back, upwards of 20 feet in height and when on their hind legs can reach up to 65 feet in height. Thick Ebony Black scales line their body and a tough void-like black leathery skin is underneath making their natural armor excellent. Their eyes are of a lime green, unless engaged in combat and they then glow a yellow. Four legs, each end in a hand of sorts that has 5 razor sharp claws that would mimic long swords.

The most evil and deviant dragons. As most dragons they avoid the public eye, but they are much harder to see than most giving them advantages on initiative.

They like to live under ground, in massive cave systems or creating their own little under ground cave.

Most of them have a paranoid personality, only really trusting other Black Dragons, and even that is a stretch. Rarely do they lair with more than 1-2 others because it usually ends up in tensions and violence. They have excellent intelligence and wisdom, but are a bit lower on the strength scale compared to other Dragons.

Each attack would be 5d12 + bonuses for its claw. Its bite, is a triple threat; 4d12 piercing damage, 2d10 Acid damage and then the target must make a dexterity save of 18 or more to not go prone and thrown 10-20 feet. The landing for the target results in another 1d10 of fall damage. Their breath or more like spit is legendary, and the acid can dissolve Blue Steele Armor, making their breath attack not only dangerous for the individual, but what they are wearing as well. Each Black Dragon can spit Acid every 4th round. So if it breathes Acid round one, round 5 it has recouped enough to spit acid again. It is a devastating attack 8d12 of damage, metal armor to be dissolved in 3 rounds, clothing 1 round. This along with most information and stats from 5e.

SUB-CLASS
Boulderstone Dragons.

Much like their base Black Dragon stats, the differences with Boulderstone is the color of these Dragons are a dark brown. The other thing that really stands out is that they do not have wings. Their Armor Class is ridiculous at 24 AC. They are slower at 25ft, and they can not fly. Their spit is combined with acid and force. It will do 8d12 of damage, but also 2d12 of force damage and the opponent must make a save to not get thrown 10-12 feet away, possibly taking more landing damage.
