Chance: well since I was told to keep my mouth shut for now I will, and head back down to the beach.
DMaster: You make it this time with little interruption. You can see Morty farther down, in his usual spot.
Chance: Go down and see Morty.
DMaster: He is surprisingly sober. He seems to be cleaning up.
Chance: Chan: Hey there Morty.
DMaster: Morty is in his usually colorful shirt, shorts and some sandals. He looks up.
MORT: Eh? Oh Chance, how are you?
He throws a bag of stuff into a crate.
Chance: Chan: I am doing well, how are you doing?
DMaster: MOR: Relieved.
He snickers a bit.
Chance: Chan: do I dare ask?
DMaster: MOR: I shipped that soul sucking hag off.
Chance: Chan: ahhhh, that’s why you aren’t drinking.
Bust out laughing.
Chan: I am sure that went real well.
DMaster: MOR: Busy busy, cleaning up after her… she makes such a mess.
Chance: Chan: well I am glad you shipped her off because you aren’t the same when she is here. She makes everything so tense.
DMaster: He glances up at you.
MORT: Exactly… she is oblivious to anyone but herself.
Chance: Chan: can I ask you something Morty?
DMaster: Whirls around from stacking books on his end table.
MORT: Of course, my boy.
Chance: Chan: what do you know about Finster?
DMaster: He did not like that question, furries his brow.
MORT: I know enough to not talk about him.
Chance: Chan: I am sorry I asked, was just curious.
DMaster: MORT: No, it’s ok, I do not know enough about him.
Chance: Chan: well can I ask what Affinity’s father was like?
DMaster: MORT: Ahhhh yes, I wasn’t quite the Captain when he died.
Chance: Chan: what happened?
DMaster: MORT: Without him, Cassie and Xavier, this Realm would most likely not exist (pauses for a moment) Or not the way we know it.
Chance: Chan: how so Morty? I mean what did he do?
DMaster: MORT: Legend has it, the three of them went on a secret mission to defeat a great evil.
Pauses a moment.
MORT: 3 left, 2 returned. Not many people know of the foresight, and you would be well to not mention that.
Chance: Chan: So her father didn’t return?
DMaster: MORT: Well, his body returned, but his soul was with Animax.
Chance: Chan: what was he like as a person?
DMaster: MORT: I never knew him that well.
Chance: Chan: well he sounds like a great man.
DMaster: MORT: He was, an amazing man. I mean he sacrificed his life for this kingdom, it doesn’t get much more heroic.
Chance: Chan: wow, I never knew this stuff, so sheltered, sorry, I just start thinking about what my real father was like, is why I asked.
DMaster: Morty shakes his head a bit.
MORT: I hate to cut this short, but I have to get this stuff back in my cabana and help Helynne with some weapons she had questions about.
Chance: Chan: no problem, I should probably head back to the Inn and see if Britney has any work for me to do. Thank You for talking with me.
DMaster: He puts his hand on your shoulder.
MORT: When I have more time, I can tell you some great tales.
Chance: Chan: I look forward to it!
Smiling, turn and start walking back to the Inn.
DMaster: You are walking into the Inn.
Chance: go look for Britney.
DMaster: Corina is talking with Ferra going over some papers behind the desk. Two guards at the bottom and a Knight as usual.
Chance: Chan: Hey Corina and Ferra have you seen Britney?
DMaster: Corina looks up at you.
COR: I think she went to her room.
Chance: Chan: okay thank you.
I will head to Britney’s room.
DMaster: Its the first door on the first floor and a corridor that leads to another door.
Chance: knock on the door.
DMaster: Muffled: Who is it?
Chance: Chan: it’s Chance.
DMaster: Muffled: Oh come in then.
Chance: Walk in.
Chan: sorry to bug you, just wanted to see if there was anything else you needed me to do.
DMaster: She is standing in the middle of the room, with nothing on but underwear, her hair is in a towel. She is eating some bread and reading a scroll. Her room is very bright, part of the living room is 20 feet out from the inn, and it is all glass. a couch and chair in the middle, with a few tables, on the far wall is a little breakfast nook, with a smaller table and some stools. A few doors on the other wall.
BRIT: Close the door, I don’t necessary want everyone to see my fun bags. And it’s no bother, I am glad you stopped by
She puts down the scroll, finishes the food. Bends over, unravels her hair, and shakes it out. She throws you the towel.
BRIT: Make yourself useful will you? Cassie will want to talk with you straight away. They should be back by now
Chance: Chan: okay, I will get on that then.
Fold the towel, put it under my arm.
Chan: guess I better get going, don’t want to face Cassie’s wrath.
DMaster: Dramatically Britney turns to you.
BRIT: You of all people should know how that goes.
Raising her eyebrow. She nods, turns around and swankily walks into her bedroom.
Chance: Chan: don’t remind me,once was enough.
Laughing while shaking my head, close the door behind me and go find Cassie.
DMaster: You head down the corridor, and then into the Inn’s entrance area. You drop the towel off. Its about 3PM-ish, pretty clear out and of course warm and humid.
Chance: Thinking to myself and darn, I am not at the beach enjoying myself. Head to Cassie’s room.
DMaster: Before you could start up the stairs, Ferra grabs your attention.
Ferra: Chance!
Chance: Chan: yes, Ferra?
DMaster: She looks odd, and perspiration forming on her forehead.
FER: Uhh, can you, uhh… take this bag of trash out?
Chance: Give her a weird look.
Chan: sure can.
Grab the trash and take it out, quietly mumbling, outside.
DMaster: You notice the bag is barely half full. Odd. You go out the door, and throw the trash in a large crate. Suddenly you are pushed into a crate, kissing it, with your hand behind your back.
MYSTERY: Shhh, don’t say a word.
Chance: Chan: hey, what the heck?
DMaster: It is a gruff woman’s voice. You do not recognize it.
MYSTERY: Are you Chance… per chance?
Chance: Chan: well maybe I am. Apart from terrible puns. Can I have my hand back?
DMaster: MYST: Answer my question.
She is tightening her grip.
MYST: Who sent you out here?
Chance: Chan: OW. Ferra did. WTF.
DMaster: She releases your hand, but keeps you pinned up against the crate.
MYST: Does anyone else know you are throwing out the garbage?
Chance: Chan: not that I know of, okay? Can I get off the crate now? I am hungry but splinters was not on the menu.
DMaster: She pulls her hands away and steps back.
MYST: Yes
Chance: Chan: well, thank you. I think.
Turn around and look.

DMaster: MYST: I apologize for making you eat wood, but I had to be sure.
Chance: Chan: why would you want to be sure if I was who I am suppose to be?
DMaster: Taking off her gloves, she leans up against an old barrel
MYST: Because I can’t let anyone know I am here.
Chance: Chan: umm okay, why then reveal yourself to me?
DMaster: MYST: I have done my research, you are the best person to relay messages for me.
Chance: Chan: why does everyone keep saying that?
DMaster: This elf is in a dark leather outfit, a belt across her chest with knives and arrow heads. A sword on her hip and what looks like multiple jagged knives strapped to her legs. She raises her eyebrows.
MYST: Eh? What do you mean?
Chance: Chan: nothing. it just seems lately I am everyone’s message boy or information gatherer
DMaster: MYST: Cassie? The King?
Chance: Chan: never mind me, just not use to all this.
DMaster: Slanting her already slanted eyes… stands up straight
MYST: No, its important, who are you delivering messages to or who are you getting info for? I have to know.
Chance: Chan: Cassie told me not to say anything. First are you who I think you are?
DMaster: Looking at you perplexed…
MYST: Unlike Cassie, I can’t read minds.
Chance: Chan: are you the person Plugr was talking about? Some Ranger named Rohlia?
DMaster: Her eyes bulge and looks around.
ROH: Yes, my name is Rohlia Luzumin, how did you…
Chance: Chan: well then we have a slight problem.
DMaster: I was not supposed to be here for another day or two but I wanted to get her early in case my situation was compromised.
Chance: Chan: I had a run in with the Priestess of Finster. She wanted me to find out if you were coming.
DMaster: Her eyes bulge even more.
ROH: How would she, even, think of that?
Chance: Chan: funny, that was Cassie’s same reaction.
DMaster: ROH: This complicates things.
Chance: Chan: well the only thing I can think of is we have a mole in the ranks. I can assure you it isn’t me.
DMaster: ROH: I know, Cassie would of rooted you out long ago.
Chance: Chan: I was suppose to meet with Cassie. She knows what happened along with the Priestess making me an offer to be her Assassin.
Snort a little.
Chan: Since I was the one who killed her last one.
DMaster: The sleek elf nods and smiles.
ROH: (sighes) You are balls deep in chaos right now huh?
Starts to pace a bit.
Chance: Chan: Yes, I have noticed.
DMaster: ROH: Ok, I can’t keep you too long, do not tell anyone I am here.
Chance: Chan: I won’t, I promise.
DMaster: ROH: Do you know where the fish catch hut is on the other side of the island?
Chance: Chan: Yes. I know the island like the back of my hand.
DMaster: ROH: OK, meet me there at 10pm.
Chance: Chan: tonight?
DMaster: ROH: Yes, we can talk further.
Chance: Chan: okay, I shall meet you there, before anybody misses me I better get back inside.
DMaster: The elf nods.
ROH: Thank you, Chance.
Like the wind she makes her way through a few crates and disappears.
Chance: Head back inside and go find Cassie. Look around the main level first. If not will head to the second floor.
DMaster: You see Ferra looking at you with wide eyes. She looks relieved when she sees you. You do not see Cassie down here.
Chance: head up to the second floor and to Cassie’s room.
DMaster: You go past a few more guards and get to her door.
Chance: knock on her door.
DMaster: Mans voice “come in”.
Chance: slowly open the door and walk in.
DMaster: Xavier is in a chair holding a cup, reading a paper. His darker shirt is open a bit, cuffs rolled up. He seems to have lighter pants on and as always his hair is impeccable.
Chance: Chan: M’lord.
bow a little.
DMaster: The room is fairly dim, the shutters are mostly closed.
XAV: Ahh, Chance come in, Close the door.
Chance: I close the door behind me.
DMaster: Xavier puts down his glass and stands up.
XAV: Chance, Cassie is going to be later than expected but we have things to talk about.
Chance: Chan: OK.
DMaster: XAV: Cassie feels this is getting to risky for everyone, especially the Princess, So we are going to throw a ball tomorrow night.
Chance: Chan: Not exactly what I think would protect anyone, let alone the Princess, but ok. The point of that is, if you don’t mind me asking? Are we trying to drawn them out?
DMaster: XAV: Because it seems the walls have ears, we are going to have doubles in place of the Royal Family.
Chance: Chan: and where do I fit in this plan if you don’t mind me asking.
DMaster: XAV: While everyone thinks this ball will have all the royal family they will be safely on a boat heading for home. You will be helping coordinating this with Britney, and you can tell her, but no one else. We are renting out the large pavilion on the west side of the island, and inviting everyone.
He glances at you while he drones on.
XAV: Thus the reason Cassie is not here, she is getting everything organized.
Chance: Chan: I should get with Brit then?
Look down for a minute.
DMaster: XAV: I know this is a lot for, what are they calling you, the cabana boy?
He chuckles.
Chance: Smile and nod.
DMaster: XAV: I am sorry, I find that funny, there is no cabana boy that could of sliced up that Odius… but whats eating you?
Chance: Chan: Nothing really, it’s just once you are all gone, I guess I am going back to the boring, day to day life; back to boring Chance. I just feel like I want more, explore… I am just babbling, I am sorry.
DMaster: He smiles.
XAV: Aye, I know that feeling. It burns in your belly, but be careful what you wish for.
He nods as he reaches down and grabs his cup, and sips his drink. Knock on the door.
XAV: Pardon me a second, Come in.
The King walks in dressed fairly common, with a light tunic, some average pants and what seems to be a coin pouch in hand.
Chance: turn and bow.
Chan: M’lord.
DMaster: Xavier quickly stands up, bows a little,
XAV: M’Lord, what can we do for you?
KING: I am not accustomed to being a messenger boy.
He chuckles a little.
Chance: Give him a curious look.
DMaster: KING: Chance? Your Mom is looking for you and Xavier I am starving, lets go eat.
The Duke laughs a little.
XAV: Yes my lord, lets go eat.
You three walk out, and down the hall.
Chance: Chan: I guess I better go find my mother or she might have you send out guards to find me next, M’Lord.
Laughing a little.
DMaster: The King is patting you on the back, chuckling.
KING: It’s all good. *rumble* Oh my, but my stomach is in need of some food!
XAV: Aye, lets go to Fycons.
Chance: Chan: M’lords.
Bowing, then go look for my mom. Head down to the main floor first.
DMaster: Britney is wearing a light blouse, a short skirt and some leather sandals. She is chatting with your Mom.
Chance: Chan: You were looking for me mom?
DMaster: Your mom looks at you, she seems embarrassed.
JOS: Yes, I haven’t seen you in like 2 days. I was worried.
She sighs.
JOS: I did not mean for the King, of all people, to go fetch you.
Her face turning red.
Chance: Smirk a little.
Chan: He did not mind really. Sorry, I have been keeping busy, but no worries I am doing fine.
DMaster: She gives you a big hug. Britney gives a big smile. Your mom is in her special uniform made for the royals, she looks really cute.
MOM: You’ve been working so hard.
Britney coughs suddenly.
BRIT: uhhh yeah, he has. Real hard.
Chance: Chan: not hard enough, still work to do.
Smiling at my mom, then shoot Britney a look.
DMaster: Britney smiles and tries to look innocent. She is one second away from giggling.
Chance: Chan: again, I am sorry I worried you.
DMaster: She smiles.
MOM: It is quite ok, I am heading out to do some errands for the Inn, but wanted to touch base with you before I left.
Chance: Chan : okay, I will be around if you need me for anything.
DMaster: She smiles and heads out the door.
BRIT: Working… hard. Yup… real hard.
Chance: Chan: shush you.
Laugh and give her a playful look.
DMaster: She walks behind the desk.
Chance: Chan: I was suppose to come talk to you anyways.
DMaster: BRIT: Oh? Oh yeah, Xavier… yes, we have to get the ball organized in, like a few hours.
She leans up against the desk, looks down and sighs.
BRIT: It doesn’t seem to ever end, I don’t think you need to worry about the organization of it though.
Chance: Chan: it does, I am sure. But I get to go back to being same old boring chance when it’s done.
Looking down.
DMaster: BRIT: Uh huh… same old boring chance, the one finding compounds, getting arrested and almost going to the dungeons.
She rolls her eyes.
BRIT: Yes. hmmmm.
The Blonde woman taps her chin with her finger.
BRIT: Let me and Corina get a list of things, and first thing in the morning you can run the errands and get it done.
From the stairs you hear footsteps and some debate.
ERIK: No! It was the gray horse that almost ran you over!
Chance: turn and look.
DMaster: AFF: Erikka – it was the black one, the sun has baked the smarts right out of you.
ERR: What? I maybe blonde but I am not as blonde as you!
Both laugh as they get to the bottom of the stairs. Britney glances over and smiles.
BRIT: Actually, you two are equally blonde, I would say.
Chance: just keep watching this conversation with a raised eyebrow.
DMaster: They stop and look over to Britney smiling. They look at each others hair and they smile and nod.
Chance: Chan: get me that list and I will get on it in the morning.
DMaster: Both look over to you.
Both Girls: Chance!
Britney gives you a googly eyed look and a smirk.
Chance: Chan: M’ladies.
bow a little.
DMaster: BRIT: Ladies, I will get your food or…
Looks at you.
BRIT: Hungry Chance, per Chance?
Giving you a shit eating grin.
Chance: Chan: I will get their food for them.
DMaster: BRIT: Get some for yourself too, I have a bunch of it in the back, let them pick out what they want.
Chance: Chan: as you say, this way M’ladies
DMaster: Birgetta makes her way down the stairs and joins in. The red head has a modest pink summer dress on. Erikka also has a blue summer dress with jewelry, and Affinity has a blouse with some tan leather pants. The girls start to giggle a bit.
BIRG: Wait up for me. I’m so hungry I could eat and watch Erikka bloat!
ERIK: That doesn’t even make sense?!
Chance: keep my ears perked up see if they talk about me, as we go back for food.
Chan: take your pick and I will prepare it.
DMaster: There is a large ice chest with tons of fruit and cheese and other items. Some fresh bread on the shelves, etc. They just grab a few plates and pile on the food.
BIRG: No need Chancey poo, we can manage.
Chance: Chan: okay, guess I am not needed then.
Smirking a bit.
DMaster: BIRG: I wouldn’t say that!
Jabbing Affinity in the ribs softly.
AFF: Birg!
She shakes her head
ERIK: You’re eating with us right?
Chance: Chan: If you wish.
DMaster: They nod and finish getting their food, and go over to a table. Britney already has a jug of wine on the table with 4 goblets.
Chance: I will grab some cheese, fruit and bread.
DMaster: napkins, silverware, etc.
ERR: Ok Birg, was it the Grey Mare or the Black horse that almost ran over Affinity last year?
They get situated and started eating.
BIRG: I thought it was a painted horse.
Affinity slaps her forehead.
AFF: Both of you need to wear hats in the sun from now on.
Chance: Sit, get myself situated.
DMaster: Affinity pours you a cup of wine.
Chance: Chan: M’lady, I should be pouring it for you.
DMaster: Erikka and Birgetta stop eating and stare at the goblet she just poured. The two of them look at each other smiling wide.
ERIK: I see where we rank, we have to pour our own, but you will pour a glass for Chance?
Affinity, who seemed to have perfected the resting bitch face is just staring at them.
AFF: Really?
They already poured their wine. They continue to eat and have small conversation. You feel a foot caress your leg after about 5 minutes.
Chance: nibble on my food and sip on my wine. See if I can figure out where the foot is coming from.
DMaster: DM: Really? You think Erikka is going to caress your leg?!?
You know its the Princess. She shoots you a side wards glance.
Chance: just try to keep a straight face and sip on my wine. Smile at her.
DMaster: BIRG: So Chance, have you been training with, what is his name? Morty lately?
Erikka butts in:
ERR: Yeah? Shirtless?
Affinity gives Erikka a look, she blushes a little.
Chance: Chan: no, I haven’t ummm, he has been dealing with his ex.
DMaster: AFF: uhhh… girls, don’t you think the weather has been great?
She tries to change the subject.
BIRG: Yeah weather has been great for, “shirtless men.”
Erikka burst out laughing
Chance: Just shake my head.
Chan: I am sure you have seen shirtless men before that look a lot better than me.
DMaster: The Princess tries not to blush to bad, she smiles softly and giggles, Affinity looks up.
AFF: Mom!
Cassie walks over to the table wearing a tight sundress, hair in a ponytail, and that throws you, she has always been wearing pants. She looks real cute.
Chance: Chan: M’lady.
I get up and bow.
DMaster: CASS: Shirtless men? What the heck are you four talking about?
Erikka almost spits out the bite of food she just took and laughs. Birgetta starts to get the giggles and can’t stop.
Chance: Bust out laughing, as I am bowing.
DMaster: Cassie has a playful smile…
CASS: Don’t let me interrupt you, enjoy your food, I am going to get to bed, its been a long day and it is going to be a longer day tomorrow..
Chance: Chan: goodnight, M’lady.
DMaster: Its around 7:30 now.
AFF: Ok mom.
She stands up and gives her a hug.
ERR/BIR: Gnite!
They continue to munch away and drink the wine.
Chance: Chan: so, shirtless men huh?
DMaster: They all look innocent, shrugging their shoulders, smiling and giggling.
ERR: It just might be you Chance.
Chance: Chan: I am flattered.
Looking toward Affinity.
DMaster: Her foot is caressing your leg again. She is giving you fuck me eyes, you seen them eyes in Britney many times. The girls finish up eating, its about 8:30.
Chance: Chan: let me get those plates for you.
DMaster: BIRG: Sit down, we can carry them over, right Erikka?
ERIK: Huh? why..?
Birg looks at her sternly. Erikka looks at her, then you and affinity, then back to her. Erikka raises her eyebrow.
ERIK: Oh yeah… yeah we can get this, sit right there Chance.
Chance: Chan: as you say, who am I to argue.
DMaster: They grab the plates and put them in the utility room and they walk up the stairs.
ERR/BIR: Night Chance!
Giggling as they walk up the stairs.
Chance: Chan: Night M’ladies.
Look at Affinity.
Chan: Perhaps you would like to take a walk?
DMaster: Affinity looks into your eyes, shaking her head…
AFF: I am not allowed to leave the Inn. Moms orders and after last time…
Chance: Chan: now I didn’t say we had to leave the Inn. I meant maybe you would like to go to my apartment and talk some more.
DMaster: AFF: Isn’t your mom there?
Chance: Chan: Mom wont mind.
DMaster: AFF: Really after our little encounter a few days ago? It is very awkward when she is around, knowing that she walked in on us.
She giggles, plays with your hand a bit.
AFF: No, we can just sit on the couch over there and talk. It’s dark enough, if you don’t mind.
Chance: Chan: as you wish, I am all yours.
DMaster: AFF: Oohh!
she grabs your hand and takes you over to the couch. Its darker over there too. she pushes you down, and sits next to real close.
AFF: So what do you want to talk about?
Chance: Chan: I want to know more about you.
DMaster: She smiles, looking at you from the side of her face.
AFF: Sure…
Chance: Chan: and maybe us.
DMaster: AFF: Ahhh.
Her eyes fixed upon you now.
AFF: I have a question.
Chance: Chan: ask away, I have nothing to hide from you.
DMaster: She looks incredible, even in normal clothing. Her flowing blonde hair, the glint of her big green eyes, the perfume. She leans in to you.
AFF: How does… your… lips… taste.
Her soft lips meet yours.
Chance: kiss her back.
DMaster: You two make out for a good ten minutes in the darkened lounge area. Then there is commotion at the door.
KING: Whatsh going on here Prinshess?
Affinity stands up as quickly as you seen anyone move.
AFF: My Lord, I was just talking with Chance.
The King is standing a good 20 feet away, Xavier struggling to hold him up.
Chance: I am so dead, yet again, thinking.
DMaster: XAV: Don’t mind us, we were just going to bed, the king was sampling some of the…
Chance: Chan: Wine, M’lord?
DMaster: KING: Fine foods in… on.. aroundsh… this fine island. This ish an island right?
Xavier is gripping the King a bit better.
XAV: Yes M’lord… it is an island.
The two of them make their way up the stairs. Affinity turns to you and presses her body against yours.
AFF: He wont remember… I hope.
Gives a meek smile.
AFF: Xavier didn’t even seem to notice.
Chance: Chan: M’lady I have a question of my own.
DMaster: AFF: yes?
She says purring a little.
Chance: Slightly touch her back.
Chan: I am not just a fling am I?
DMaster: Affinity shocked by the question, she steps back a bit. You can tell she went from this little minx, to a flustered teenager who looks all too awkward.
AFF:I… I don’t know, I have never been with a man before.
Chance: Chan: well I have never been with a Princess either but
Taking hold of her hand.
Chan: forgive me M’lady, for being so blunt, but I think I have fallen for you.
DMaster: She takes your other hand and looks into your eyes
AFF: I think I have fallen for you too… but.
She looks down and sighs.
AFF: always a but.
Chance: Chan: why does there have to be a but?
DMaster: AFF: I am to be a Queen, sooner, rather than later now.
Distorts her mouth, looks down. It starts to sink in for the Princess. She gasps a bit.
AFF: Oh Chance, I never meant this to…
A look of disappointment washes over her face.
Chance: looking down.
DMaster: AFF: I know how this must of looked… she lets go of your hands and turns around and walks a few steps away, closer to the light.
Chance: Grab her hand before she gets too far.
DMaster: AFF: I didn’t have any idea I would feel this way or hell, even meet anyone.
She wheels back around and meets you eye to eye.
Chance: pull her close to me.
Chan: nor I but I don’t want this to end ever.
DMaster: She slides her hand to your face, tilts her head and kisses you passionately. The only way to describe it, is electricity, and you are pretty sure she feels it too.
Chance: kiss her back, stroke her hair.
DMaster: AFF: Want to meet somewhere in an hour?
Chance: Chan: I would be a fool to say no.
DMaster: She pulls back, and giggles. She glances down.
AFF: Some one is eager to get out.
Looks back at you and smiles.
Chance: Nod my head.
Chan: More than he ever has in his life.
DMaster: She giggles.
AFF: “his” life? Really, that is too cute.
Chance: Chuckle and smile at her.
Chan: can we make it two hours from now I have something I need to do first.
DMaster: AFF: So about 11? Where do you want to meet?
She has this big smile on her face, you can feel her heart beating fast
AFF: The rooms at the end of the 3rd floor are empty right?
Chance: Chan: yes.
DMaster: AFF: Beds are still in there right?
Chance: Chan: of course they are, M’lady.
DMaster: AFF: M’Lady… M’Lady, M’Lady, stop with that when we are alone OK? Call me Affinity.
Chance: Chan: okay Affinity, I shall when it is only us.
Take her hand and put it next to my chest.
Chan: see what you do to me?
DMaster: She kisses you again. The Princess feels your heart beating out of your chest. She has this amazing smile wash over her face, and she is even blushing. The Princess leans in and hugs you, you could not fit a piece of paper between you two.
Chance: Hug her back.
Chan: I better go get things done, so we can be together.
DMaster: Knowing you two are closer to the light, she just kisses your cheek and heads up the stairs.
Chance: Watch her walk up the stairs, and then go up the stairs as well head to my apartment.
DMaster: Calisara walks over to you, stops you before you follow. She is a Knight of Camerondale.
CAL: I am not one to spy on people but, You are in a dangerous line of action here.
Looks at you funny.
CAL: Just a word of warning, this is not some bar slug. This is the Princess, soon to be Queen of this realm.
Chance: Chan: and this I understand.
DMaster: CAL: Hundreds of thousands of people will be depending on her, want to know why we handle her with the utmost of care? That’s why.
She puts her hand on your shoulder. Calisara looks into your eyes.
CAL: Flirting is all that happens, understand?
Chance: Chan: well I guess it’s ok to flirt then…?
Look back at her all serious.
DMaster: Nodding her head…
CAL: Good to hear.
Sounding less than convinced, pats your shoulder and walks away. She sets herself up at the entrance on a stool and looks out over the ever darkening sky.
Chance: head to my apartment and ignore her.
DMaster: You get in, your mom fell asleep reading a book on the couch.
Chance: Head to my room and grab a couple wrist sheaths, a hidden dagger and two daggers. Then quietly leave and lock the door.
DMaster: You head down the stairs and leave the Inn
Behind The Scenes
Rohlia is making her way from rooftop to rooftop, someowhat regretting the decision. These roof’s are flimsy at best, if I was a few pounds heavier, I think I’d go right through, she thinks to herself with a smirk.
Her thoughts turn to the task at hand, that fish warehouse has the most activity of any of the buildings in the area. With the stoppage of new guests at the island, that makes no sense; she continues to think as she finally makes it to the alleyway.
She drops down, creeps to the door, checks it. It is locked. “Damn,” she mumbles to herself grabbing her picks. Shaking her head knowing she is not really proficient in this, but she has to try. Lucky for her, it worked. The lock, pings, and she puts her tools away. Turning the handle she walks in.
Rohlia is part of a very large family, one that succeeded the clan elves and essentially live on their own. Six sisters, 4 brothers, they are all very intelligent and went into fields like alchemy, merchants, researchers and other brainy jobs. Rohlia, with her wild spirit, wanted nothing to do with that. Out of the 11 siblings, she was the shortest, had the biggest eyes and was the wildest of the children.
One fateful night in what seemed to be endless arguments among the family, usually started by Rohlia, it slipped that her father, is not actually her father. Her mother was raped by a wild elf, and got her pregnant. Rohlia was 30 at the time and absolutely devastated. She packed up her things and left. She meet up with her younger cousin Veritaan and they became hired guns, monster hunters, problem solvers. They grow very close over the next decade, and many times refers to him as her brother.
Her skills were raw, but sometimes unbeatable. Veritaan eventually joined the Black Ward when Rohlia met Emmalyn and fell in love, she decided to settle down. The relationship has lasted and it is as strong as ever, but her settling down, yeah… not so much.
Rohlia creeps into the warehouse, and the smell hits her. She gags a second and looks around, waiting for her Dark Vision to catch up with her. Eventually she see’s a door to her left and heads for it. Listens, and doesn’t hear too much. She opens it, heads in and closes the door behind her.
She slowly creeps down the hallway that has some faint light coming from what appears another doorway at the end. It doesn’t take long, she hears a clink at the door she came from and the door she was heading to opens wide.
A tall vibrant woman strides in with a lantern that she puts up on a hook that is in the wall, lighting the hallway up. Two guards walk in behind her.
“So, what do we have here? Rohlia I presume,” the dark haired, shaved head, tattooed woman snarks, “someone was looking for you.”
Chance: Carefully start walking to the meeting point. paying attention as I am walking to make sure no one is following me.
DMaster: You see a few people out, any tourist around, came unannounced, the Island stopped taking reservations for the last week due to the King. You do not see anyone who is questionable, no one is following that you can see. The air is muggy, more than usual. The sky is clouding up, and in the distance you can see flashes of lightning streak across the sky, reflecting off the water. Low rumbles echo across the island after each flash.
Chance: Keep walking but paying attention to my surroundings.
DMaster: You make it to the fish front, there is a side alley that you imagine is where Rohlia wanted to meet you.
Chance: Give the alleyway one good look with my darkvision and head down when I know it’s clear.
DMaster: You head down, and the door is closed that leads into the building. It appears to be unlocked.
Chance: Listen at the door, if nothing, head inside, carefully and slowly.
DMaster: You do not hear much, possible voices, but there are people in the vicinity in town. You open the door the smell of fish hits you, ugg, tastes like chicken.
Chance: Ignore the smell and walk in.
DMaster: Its roughly 20 x 30 that you can see. The slats of the shutters are allowing some light come in, but the flashes of lightning is creating crazy shadows.
Chance: Staying focused with my hands near my daggers.
Battle Written Out
Chance is slowly moving through the building, the smell almost overwhelming. ‘I think I’ll avoid eating fish anytime soon’ he muses to himself wondering why it’s so dark, and where the hell is Rohlia?
With his darkvision, it is slowly focusing and the first thing he notices that the room seems to be almost empty. But he catches a door on the wall to his left. The quarter elf heads for it, only to be startled by movement to his right, in the far corner.
It is a figure, hooded, barely visible, and it is making a weird purring – ticking sound. Chance pulls out his daggers, regretting the fact he did not bring his sword. He assumes this is another Odius.
The creature speaks “Take a wrong turn skinny one?” the creature says in a guttural growl, “just turn and walk away.” He tilts his head seeing the mysterious man pull his daggers on him.
“And if I don’t,” Chance retorts quickly and to the point.
The creature smiles and it’s eyes turn to slits, “you die painfully, and you will give me something to do to pass the time.” He unsheathes his bastard style sword with a loud, “shing!”.
Chance closes his eyes for a second, ‘damn, damn, if only I grabbed my sword instead,’ he says to himself backing up a few steps.
The creature takes his attention for just a moment off of the quarter elf, as shouts and a scuffle can be heard behind the door that Chance was heading to originally. A smile washes over his face as he redirects his attention back to the unprepared youngster. He laughs watching him step back, “second thoughts huh? I understand but it’s too late.”
The door that Chance came through from the alley way is suddenly slammed shut. Chance glances back to see another hooded figure standing there. “Oh, sure, like this is fair, gang up on the little teenage boy,” he says trying to find a way out of this.
The hooded figure starts to say, “Life isn’t fair kid” he continues cautioning the Odius “we should capture him, in case the Priestess wants to question him,” he says crossing his arms and putting himself right in front of the door.
The Odius shakes his head, “not until I take a chunk out of him,” he says right before he bull rushes the quarter elf.
Taking the creature by surprise, the semi-elf jumps to one side, almost avoiding the slice of the creature. Chance could feel it dig in a little, but knew it wasn’t anything substantial.
Chance then slices with both daggers at the creature who’s back was towards him, one bouncing off his horns, the other slash missing completely. The man at the door has a smile form across his face watching this unfold.
With a quick response, the creature swings mid level as he turns to face his opponent, took Chance by surprise as the blade cuts into his stomach. Chance yells in pain a little.
The quarter elf is holding his arm across his stomach, now that it is starting to bleed. Chance throws his dagger in a surprise move and it lands square into the shoulder of the Odius. “Oww! you pointy headed little fuck!” he yells getting very angry.
By now the voices behind the door are getting louder, the room is filled with flashes of shadows and light from the lightning that is getting more frequent. The rumbling that was once in the distance is now louder, and closer.
In his anger he lunges for Chance, only to have him dodge it skillfully. The Odius expecting to hit flesh, hits air and it ends up doing a split. The creature producing a “gasp” as his tendons pull too far out of place.
Chance takes this opportunity to drive his other dagger into the Odius skull, right above his ear, it cracks through bone and the Odius screeches in pain.
This made the man at the door burst out laughing, he unsheathes his sword, odd shaped, but looks deadly as the flash of lightning glints off the blade.
Still holding onto his stomach a bit, Chance positions himself between the two, back to the wall, so he can keep both eyes on the two of them, he is left with a small hidden dagger and that is it.
The Odius is pulling the dagger out of his skull and he whips it against the wall with disgust. The other man is slowly walking towards you, “I can’t imagine you are much of a fight, but I won’t be as cocky as my friend over there…” he continues, only to get interrupted.
A loud splintered boom, echoes through the room, the majority of the door that was once on the wall is now sliding across the floor, splinters flying everywhere. Rohlia stands there in the doorway, wide eyed, blood across her face. She is staring at the Priestess who is sliding across the floor along with her weapon, from the force. Looked like Rohlia kicked Velencia through the door. The ranger has her hand across her stomach, blood splattered everywhere, looking a little worse for wear.
This made the hooded man jump back and get out of the way of the door and his Priestess. Furious, the Priestess who has blood trickling down the side of her mouth and some cuts across her flowing dress is wide eyed, looking at Rohlia; “Get her you fools, talking did not work, we will just have to kill. her…” she went to continue only to see the Odius struggling to stand up, blood pouring out of his wounds. That took her by surprise, made her turn to her right and there stands Chance, the pointy headed little fuck. “You have got to be kidding me!” she yells, eyes burning, “You have made a grave mistake, orphan!”
Rohlia looks over to you, some relief washes over her face. She can see all you have is a knife, no better than what looks to be a meat fillet. “Chance!” she yells getting his attention, then grabs her sword out of her sheath as everyone in the room is occupied and getting situated. She throws the sword to the Quarter Elf, and he catches it blade first. He winces a bit but then grips it tightly and moves forward a little.
The hooded man jumps the door, avoids the Priestess and heads your way. Velencia has gotten up and is making her way to the far wall. Rohlia flings a dagger at her, only to have the Priestess dodge it with uncanny dexterity. She pulled her shoulder to one side, rolled on the ground and ended up a few feet from Chance, on one knee. The dark haired woman grabs hold of Chances wrist, trying to get him to drop the sword and cause him pain. It makes him yell, and instinctively he punches at the Priestess connecting on the side of her head making her release him. The quarter elf jumps back a good 5 feet. This took the man out of range of his attack, he curses under his breath.
By now, the storm was all but overhead. Flashes of lightning every 5 seconds, rumbles and booms of thunder, rain down on the group engaged in combat. The flashes of the light through the room is making everyone disorientated a bit.
This gave Chance an opportunity to strike out at the man. The man also must of thought the same thing, but he misses completely (rolled a 1) and Chance struck across his body hard (rolled a 20) ripping his stomach area open, blood, guts start to pile out. Chance then does a 360, practically decapitating the man, but not before he stuck his dagger 2 times into Chances stomach and back as he twirled, in a reaction attack. Chance watches as the man falls over, gurgling, lifeless. But the pain in his stomach and back is almost overwhelming him. Things are getting blurry.
Rohlia launched herself on top of the Odius and jammed both of her daggers into it’s skull, sending the creature slumping to the floor, motionless. She pulls them out and jams them into her sheathes, blood and all.
The flashes of lightning and smell is making Chance dizzy, the pain is numbing and he is beginning to feel cold. As though suddenly remembering, he looks to where the Priestess should of been and there was no one there, the room is empty besides two bodies and Rohlia stumbling over to the quarter elf. Blood streaking her face, eye starting to puff out and blood covering her armor.
“Rohlia, you don’t look so good,” Chance says trying to focus on the elf, doing everything he can to keep standing.
The Elf Ranger makes it to Chance, almost collapsing in his arms, “Thanks Chance, you look lovely too…” she fires back, gasping for air and trying to get her feet under her. She points to the door you came through, “I heard noises and voices farther back into a chamber back there, let’s get out of here before anyone else shows up.” The two of them leaning on each other bust out of the door into the alley way.
Rain is starting to come down, the thunder is screaming overhead and lightning flashes, piercing the sky. Both of them take a deep breath, welcoming the fresher air outside, rather than the stuffy humid fish smell.
Rohlia is losing grip, she is shaking almost uncontrollably and is all but passed out. Chance with all the strength he has left is dragging the elf out to the boardwalk. Eventually he makes it, drops her to the ground and quickly rips part of his shirt off. He jams it on her wounds across her stomach, trying to get it to stop bleeding. Everything is turning cold for Chance, his vision is blurred from the rain, sweat and pain. “Stay with me Rohlia, stay with me…” he says instinctively.
For a brief moment the elf opens her eyes, blinking the rain drops away; gives the quarter elf a soft smile, tries to say something but can’t. She gurgles some blood, it trickles down the side of her cheek, and her eyes roll in the back of her head.
“We need help here!” Chance starts to yell. He looks around and he sees two guards rushing towards them, through the driving rain. The drenched youngster watches as the one runs past them, in the direction of the temple and the other rushes over to where the two battle worn warriors are on the boardwalk.
The guard stops, looking everything over, turns and is yelling questions at Chance. But he can’t hear him over the rain, thunder and pain. The quarter elf is losing balance, he wobbles a bit and the guard helps him stay straight. You feel the guard take the cloth and starts to apply pressure to Rohlia, glancing at you. “Stay with me, you ok?” Chance thinks he hears him say.
Chance coughs and it produces bright red stains on the ground that already has blood splattered through out the boardwalk and running off in all directions in the rain. He instinctively wipes his mouth and there is blood running down his hands from it.
After a few moments they are swarmed by Monks. Chance can see Saundra in the distant trying to run as fast as she can towards them in the storm. She winces as a close lightning strike hits followed by a thunderous boom.
“Please help her!” Chance says trying to stand, but stumbling back. A guard catches him.
Saundra is yelling, but the quarter elf doesn’t know what she said, guards are starting to swarm. He can see some faces, one is Helynne, wide eyed looking over the situation. The pain is subsiding, and now he feels really cold… and wet… and tired. Maybe just a quick nap, he thinks to himself.
