Behind the Scenes
Britney is stepping out of her bath, still sore from the last weeks construction and work. ‘To think the leaders of the greatest Kingdom of Legon is going to be staying at my Inn’ she thinks to herself. She stops a moment and wave of anxiety washes over her.
Toweling off she walks into her living room getting a smile across her face, ‘it’s Jerry, he would never allow this to be too much of a burden, though’ she thinks tossing her towel on an arm chair ‘he rarely knows of the work put into events like these.’
Britney is a widower that moved from Camerondale to Summer Isles to get away from the pain and the memories of that tragic day she lost her husband Thorin. In her mid forties, she keeps herself in good shape, slender to a point but curvy in the right areas. Short to mid length golden blonde hair with baby blue eyes and a smile that cold light up a mountainside. A day doesn’t go by that she catches someones eye. Many times it is her employee Chance, and it is mutually beneficial.
She walks for her door after a knock. “Who is it?” she asks.
“Chance Britney, just have a question about the second floor and that light fixture…” she hears him say through the door.
She whips open the door, grabs his hand, yanks him in and closes the door behind her.
Chance is taken aback by this and just tries to keep his balance. He twirls around to see this gorgeous older woman, naked as a jaybird, wet hair, standing in front of him with that ‘look’ in her eye.
“I gave you today off my maintenance worker” she quips, slowly sauntering towards him, “You couldn’t have anyone else deliver this message?”
He shakes his head, not taking his eyes off of her near perfect body. He only take a moment to look down and see he might need to sit down or take a cold shower.
“What about the light fixture?” she says walking around him, tracing her finger along his chest, shoulder and back making him shiver a bit.
“It’s, ummm… different than the rest and the plans for it are confusing for the carpenter guy… err the man working with the… uh just some annoying guy.” he stammers keeping this cougars body in his line of sight.
She stops back in front of him and smiles “Well I just tell him that I will be up in a few minutes” she says playfully and starts to stride past Chance who grabs her hand.
In one fluid motion the two of them are intertwined, lips locked and Britney frantically trying to get the young mans pants off.
DMaster: The sun is at its highest point. You finally got a day off from work. It has been busy the last week with construction and the Inn still full. SO far it’s been an amazing day, getting attacked by Britney, training with Mortimer, and you are in the bay swimming getting cleaned up.
Chance: keep swimming for a bit just to work my muscles a bit more
DMaster: Ferellus stands on the edge of the waterline.
FER: It takes you forever to do anything
You hear him say in between you swimming
Chance: then I will get out of the bay and dry off
chan: Hey Ferellus perfection takes time don’t you know
laugh a little
DMaster: Ferellus: we don’t have a millennium besides that cave entrance is calling our name
Chance: Chance: Well I still need to get back to the inn and get my gear
DMaster: FER: are you drunk like Mortimer over there?
Mortimer is falling asleep at a cabana table drinking his rum
Chance: Chan: nobody could be as drunk as him.
DMaster: Ferellus: we dropped the gear off last night, hid it at the cave entrance so not to arise suspicion
Chance: Chan: come on, lets go you slacker, what are we waiting for lets get going to the cave
DMaster: Ferellus: *yawns* You took so long… I think I am going to go take a nap now
You two head in from the cove, down the main path called The Strip; Restaurants, hotels, casino’s, boutiques line the pathway, each side has a boardwalk.
Chance: checking out the sites as we move along
DMaster: some hot chicks, some fat dudes, weather is phenomenal if a bit warm. straight ahead lies the largest extinct volcano, it is filled around by trees, shrubbery. A few mansions line the areas that start to level off.
Chance: keep moving.
chance: you ready for this?
DMaster: FER: Yes, been for a while, finally found a day we could both go, It is a Wednesday almost High Sun (noon)
Chance: Chan: I know always something to keep us both busy.
DMaster: you guys reach a point where there is an ally way off the strip and you and Ferellus dart into the empty alleyway, it kind of smells and the heat is somewhat overwhelming.
Chance: Chan: gheez the stink back here.
DMaster: FER: I know, I was just going to ask if you wrestled with a dead fish in the water back there. This should lead us to the edge of the condos where we can get past the guards and head up to the cave. He continues to walk.
FER: yeah I know fish restaurant to the right, bath house to the left… thus the heat and smell, not exactly geniuses running this island.
Chance: Chan: well lets just hope the guards don’t notice us.
DMaster: FER: Even if they do we don’t have gear so they wont think to much of it
You two exit the alley way and head up a small path… no guards saw you, the path is older and not as used.
Chance: Chan: well lets get a move on.
DMaster: You two reach the mouth of the cave.
FER: Ill get the gear.
He walks over to palm tree leaves on the ground, lifts it and your equipment is there.
Chance: Chan: Lets get suited up and get inside I am itching to explore.
DMaster: He has a light cuirass and some grieves he puts on. He also has two short swords he sheathes on either side.
Chance: will put on my leather armor and put my sword in the sheath and put my smaller makeshift shield on my arm.
DMaster: you get ready and have your bluesteel long sword, there is a large chain across the entrance and it says “DO NOT ENTER”
Chance: Chan: Damn Ferellus, it says do not enter. Guess we should turn back huh?
smirking
DMaster: He walks under it and gets out a small travel lantern, fires it up
FER: I am already… turning back now!
Chance: follow Ferellus in shaking my head chuckling.
DMaster: the entrance seems to have been used recently, little to no cobwebs, not much dust, footprints
Chance: Chan: well looks like we aren’t the only ones to have been here
DMaster: FER: I am sure the guards make rounds through here, we’ve seen it before.
Chance: Chan: well lets get moving just in case they decide to show up
DMaster: FER: Agreed.
you head in further and the further you go the more it is unused and the dust and cobwebs pick up
Chance: Chan: stay sharp who knows what we find.
DMaster: yeah little spiders, he squashes one, the cave ends and its a dead end
FER: What the hell…?
Chance: I will carefully look for secret doors.
DMaster: Looking around, nothing in the last 10 feet.
FER: did we miss something?
Chance: Chan: maybe we need to look for a door or secret passage.
DMaster: suddenly Ferellus falls down.
FER: Uggghhh… what the hell!
Chance: look to where Ferellus fell down.
DMaster: there is like a dark bag over something on the ground.
Chance: Walk over to it.
Chan: help me uncover this carefully.
DMaster: Ferellus moves the bag off to unveil what looks like a trap door that is locked.
FER: I knew it, why would they have said NO ENTRANCE for a dead end cave.
Chance: smirking.
Chan: well lets get to work and try to pick it.
DMaster: Ferellus opens one of his satchels and takes out a leather pouch, hmmm…
Ferellus looks over the lock, picks a pick and starts working on it.
Chance: keep guard while he does that
DMaster: everything is quiet, far enough into the cave to not even get a breeze, the air is stagnant *kachunk*
FER: Got it.
Chance: Chan: Good job.
DMaster: FER: Lock is fairly old… had dust and cobwebs in it so no one has been down there for a while.
Chance: Chan: well who knows what we will find, I wasn’t expecting trap doors and locks. shall I lead the way since you picked the lock.
DMaster: FER: It’s all you bud.
Ferellus lifts open the door, it is roughly 5 foot by 5 foot trap door, swings to the side, and Ferellus carefully lays the door down
Chance: peak down in carefully.
DMaster: pitch black, just a small ray from Ferellus’s lantern.
Chance: Chan:lets get going I am curious to see whats down there.
DMaster: Ferellus puts his lantern in the hole, there is a wood ladder that appears to be bolted to the wall.
Chance: Chan: well there is our way down.
DMaster: Ferellus heads down, taking each step carefully the light in the cave disappears and only shines from the door hatch.
Chance: go down as well.
DMaster: FER: odd, no cobwebs here… and you hear him jump to the surface.
you two sit at the base of the wooden ladder, to the north of you, looks like some sort of cave in from years past, to the south a fairly large corridor.
Chance: Chan: well south it is.
DMaster: you two make your way down the corridor, dingy grey bricks.
Chance: stay sharp as we move along hand on my sword.
DMaster: it seems to go on for a while, until you reach two doors, one on the east one on the west.
Chance: carefully approach the one on the east and slowly check the door.
DMaster: the handle is dusty, and made of iron, the door is a wood with iron hinges.
Chance: will carefully put ear up to the door.
DMaster: dust flies around,
FER: what are you listening for mice?
Chance: Chan:hey you never know, pays to be safe.
DMaster: he checks the handle and it is unlocked.
FER: ready?
Chance: Chan: as ready as I can be.
draw sword quietly, get ready.
DMaster: he slowly opens the door and shines the lantern in, it is a 5 foot by 5 foot room with a broom, a barrel and dust/cobwebs everywhere.
FER: LOOK OUT!
He says with purpose but quiet enough.
Chance: jump back looking around.
DMaster: The brunette boy chuckles.
FER: that broom almost got you
Chance: stare at him, shaking my head. smack him in the arm after I put sword away.
Chan: Not funny man, you think that alleyway smelled funny, I almost just shit myself, want to smell that?
DMaster: He cups his mouth from laughing.
FER: Ummm no, definitely not.
He chuckles again. Ferellus dusts off the barrel and coughs a bit, he opens the lid.
FER: Ack! it looks like old towels and cloth.
Chance: Chan: well lets go to the other door.
Draw sword again and head to the door on the west wall and carefully check to see if it is open or locked
DMaster: FER: sounds good.
He is behind you. You check and it is unlocked
Chance: carefully open it, staying sharp
DMaster: Ferellus raises the lantern up for you to see, it appears to be a much larger room, in fact you cant see the other side yet. Your dark vision is not working great due to the lantern, and you are not used to using it in these circumstances.
Chance: Chan: you ready to go in?
DMaster: FER: yup
Almost bumping into you.
Chance: slowly move into the room, keeping senses sharp, looking around as we move.
DMaster: it looks like what appears to be beds lined on each side… they look like bunk beds, not much in the middle. A large candelabra hangs in the center of the room, must of been the main light source.
Chance: Chan: what do you think? Not much here.
DMaster: FER: seems like a bedroom of sorts, what do you think this place is?
Chance: Chan: not really sure, Kinda odd to find a bedroom of sorts in here.
Moving slowly into the room.
DMaster: you reach the other side.
Chance: look and see what I see
DMaster: a large chest sits against the wall, dusty.
FER: hmmm check for traps
Chance: Chan: I agree.
carefully check for traps
DMaster: none found, it appears to be unlocked.
Chance: slowly open it.
DMaster: a little dust flies out and you cough, looks like linens, pillows and such; moth ridden.
Chance: Chan: We can retire with all this loot we are finding.
Say this with a bit of a chuckle and cough.
DMaster: FER: it’s ok… we don’t even know what this…
Ferellus waves his hands around.
FER: …is.
Chance: Chan: well lets check out the chest a little closer
DMaster: you dig through it and all there is is material that disintegrates and linens, pillows that are moldy
Chance: Chan: well lets keep checking out the room
Check out the east wall of the room
DMaster: You see a few barrels in the corner and there is a bunk bed there as well.
Chance: Chan: lets check out the barrels, not much else to do.
DMaster: Ferellus opens one up pulls out a few sacks filled with toiletries, moldy soap, etc.
Chance: I will open a barrel as well.
DMaster: it is empty.
Chance: Chan: lets check out the North wall.
DMaster: You guys head to the north wall when.
FAR: wait what is this?
DM: Ferellus rolls well for perception and investigation.
Chance: look and see what Ferellus is looking at.
DMaster: looks like a belt with items still attached draped across the top of one of the beds.
Chance: carefully take a look at the items attached to the belt
DMaster: Ferellus inspects it… dusts it off and takes it off the bed, the belt splits in half lands hard on the floor with a clank that echos.
Chance: Chan: Awesome, so if there is any creature within 50 miles, they know we are here.
DMaster: FER: Get bent (laughs) I am sure we can handle a mouse or spider that crosses our path.
You see a dagger, he pulls it out of the sheath and the blade reflects the light and shines across the room, looks to be a silver dagger. he is now looking through the pouch
Chance: Chan: Hey share the goods
I will go take a look at the other half of the belt
DMaster: it has a pouch and a dagger sheath
Chance: carefully checkout the pouch
DMaster: there is some gold and silver coins in it with a piece of parchment.
Chance: Chan: check out the parchment.
DMaster: it falls apart.
Chance: Chan: well what did you find? (quietly)
DMaster: FER: dagger, a few platinum coins and some weird little doll.
Chance: Chan:looks like we got some money in this pouch, some gold and silver here and a dagger sheath here, maybe we should check the rest of the beds.
looking about the room.
DMaster: FER: good idea Ill check over the other side.
Ferellus leaves the lantern in the middle of the room
Chance: Chan: be careful
DMaster: FER: you too.
He checks the beds you hear him rummaging around.
Chance: I will check the beds closest to me.
DMaster: ok very dusty and cobwebs nothing on the first one, nothing on the second.
Chance: move to the next set.
DMaster: FER: ACK!
Chance: Chan: you okay? Bed bugs?
DMaster: FER: some of the beds are still occupied.
Chance: Chan: by what?
DMaster: FER: skeleton… I am guessing, its half dust.
Chance: Chan: well if it isn’t alive then all is good, keep looking around.
DMaster: you go from bed to bed and find nothing until the last one, so the last bed, has some sort of pouch on it, you almost didn’t see it because of the dust
Chance: well carefully check the pouch
DMaster: it has some keys in it, a few gold coins and flint
Chance: Chan:Hey Ferellus c’mere
DMaster: Ferellus walks over, he has some gloves in his hands
Chance: Chan: wonder what these keys are for
DMaster: FER: hmmm keys to what?
*cough cough*
FAR: lets get out of this room, I am getting irritated with all the dust
Chance: Chan: okay lets go
DMaster: you two head out of the room Ferellus first grabs the lantern
Chance: look around when we get out of the room
DMaster: still same hallway
Chance: see if there are any other ways to go, besides theses door
DMaster: yes you can continue south
Chance: Chan: c’mon Ferellus south we go
DMaster: You two head south until you notice the hallway getting wider and taller
Chance: Chan: that’s unusual Ferellus
Looking around
DMaster: FER:*looks around* yeah, I think I see… an opening or something
Chance: Chan: well lets go toward it; carefully
DMaster: you come to a spot where the walls go straight up and a large archway appears, an odd symbol adorns the top of the archway
Chance: Chan: What the hell is that? Looks like someone was trying to draw a circle and stroked out.
DMaster: FAR: *giggles* I am not sure
He shines lantern up towards the odd symbol carved into stone
